Can't believe it's been 9 years already. Here's to another 9+9. Together, we've been through so much. We can only be grateful for having such an amazing dog. And guess what, she is a pit bull. She's the inspiration behind everything we do. She inspired the cause that is Pitbull Cape Town Dog Psychology and Training Centre NPC and Hybrid K9 Pty Ltd.

Some brewer's yeast (rubbed on gums) this helps to get stomach and appetite going again.
Grinded/blended and whole chicken heads (her favourite) with rice and pumpkin.
Rub the brewer's yeast on the gums and force feed. Rub some of the food juices on the nose and gums to promote licking.
On day 4 she started to eat on her own. This worked for us and requires a lot of effort during this time.
I've reached a point where I'm not surprised anymore but have no words. We are not a shelter, and the amount of dogs being abandoned and dumped whether dead or alive is totally sick.
People have reached another level of cowardice. The dogs we are able keep, are cared for, trained and rehabilitated and sometimes rehomed but that is not our focus.
We are forced to take in and make space at our residence, and are thankful to our partner organisation @mothers_unite for accommodating us and believing in our vision of #Overcoming_Ignorance_through_Education
In turn they (@mothers_unite) have acquired 3 guard dogs. They have been trained by our qualified companion animal behaviourist.
Why do people do this. Is it a lack of understanding, care or remorse? Maybe embarrassed?
How do we end this?

We've got a serious problem with strays and people allowing their dogs to walk off leash in public. We can only overcome ignorance through education. Yes, we can talk sterilisation but in communities characterised by social economical challenges we need to find ways to educate. The mindset is very different here.
Even witnessed off leash pit bull type dogs & GSD attack one another.
Both owners dogs were off leash.
It's extremely frustrating to people who are walking their dogs (on a leash).
Off leash dog's owner in my community can't afford vet bills if my dog gets injured by their dog.
If my dog injures their dog, the focus won't be the dogs any longer. It would be violence first and common sense after, when blood has already been shed.
Called law enforcement. Still didn't show. Followed up. Still nothing.
Called SPCA, was advised that this falls under the City's bylaws.
Any advice or input would be appreciated as I believe many others can relate to this frustration.
I've got an idea but hopefully we can get to hear from you.
