THE LAST BATTLE

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.

You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend.

Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Meet beauyiful boy Biggy-Smalls. This boy is so special! And super super sweet.

Biggy needs a home with no cats and maybe a female submissive dog. He doesnt do well with small kids, so a family with older dog savvy kids will be great.

Biggy is active and playful. He is still young so needs a family who will provide him with needed toys and activities to help get rid of all that young dog energy.

A home in Durban will be 1st Prize.

November is adopt a senior pet month.

We at English & French Bulldog Rescue SA are very passionate about our oldies. The love you receive from an old dog is so different. They are filled with wisdom, they are calmer, all they want is to be close to you. If you havent experienced it yet, its difficult to explain.

The love of an old dog is soul deep. They connect with you on a level far beyond the physical. It is the most rewarding thing in the world to adopt an oldie, youd be surprised how much we humans learn from them in their golden years.

Old dogs are often overlooked. Is it because they are no longer so young and boistrous? Is it because they have reached the golden years and are closer to the end than to the beginning of life?

Thats EXACTLY what makes them so utterly special. Please, when you want to add another family member - consider that beautiful, salt and pepper faced, older dog.

You wont regret it!!

He who has earned the love of an old dog - is truly blessed!!

How the Bulldog Got His Face
When the Good Lord gave out faces to the dog long ago,-
He found, when he had issued them there was still one dog to go -
"Where's this dog's face?"He called aloud, "I know I must have made it.
There must be someone hereabouts who's clumsily mislaid it."
A shy young angel then stepped up, "forgive me, Lord." he said.
He stuttered and he stammered and he turned a little red-
"I never thought it was a face-it fell out of your bag.
So I thought you had discarded it as a piece of rag.-
"So I promptly went and used it for so very many things,
like polishing up the halos and waxing up the wings.
"It's creased and crumple as you see- in truth it's a disgrace..
I don't know how. my dearest Lord, you can use it for a face.
I realise it's all my fault, and there's no one else to blame.
I trust you can forgive me Lord My heart's so full of shame."
"Of course I have forgiven you, but here we've got a mess,
so I'll make amends to this poor dog and him I'll truly bless.
"He'll be called an "English Bulldog" that's about the only place
Where the people are so silly as to love an ugly face.
But he'll be kind and gentle and of courage he'll be full-
As well love and loyalty- the ugly, lovely bull."
And that is how, my children,in that long-gone year of grace
The dear old English Bulldog got his lovely face ...
