The Kloof koi Breeder is always very happy to see some of our customers showing koi we have bred.
We don't have results from all the koi we saw entered on show, but Avikar shared pics of the two 2nd places he got and Abraham won the Chairman's Award with a koi he purchased on our bid or buy sale this year.
Congratulations to all who entered this year's show.

One of the highlights of this year's koi show, was the opportunity for SAKKS members to take part in a ZNA judging seminar.
At the briefing the Japanese judges explained the scoring criteria - 40% body shape, 30% colour and skin, 20% pattern and 10% health and finish.
We then had 7 minutes to view and rate the 5 sankes, 1 to 5.
Later we reconvened and the judges explained their model answer. There was discussion and opportunity to ask questions. There was a wide variety of ratings . The seminar concluded by the vat, with more opportunity to view and ask questions about the koi.
It was a very educational enjoyable day. The focus for the Japanese judges is on the positive aspects of the koi, the points deducted for demerits is minimal.

Yay, it's Friday and koi show weekend! 🎏
Apart from the beautiful koi on show (some around a metre long), there will be lots of stands with koi for sale, accessories, koi art and quite a few plant stands.

This year the SA National Koi Show, at Shongweni Club on 24-25 August, will be more than just a Koi Show. Hello from the Kloof koi Breeder. Just popping in to say that we are planning on harvesting the first week of July.
Some koi / longfin we will keep as potential breeders, but we will make some available.
Will be a variety of sizes and prices -will only know when we harvest.
