And so my journey at the Hazyview Animal Clinic comes to an end - after 13 or 14 years (can’t remember)of being the receptionist at the clinic, it’s finally time to pass on the baton. This job has been one of the best experiences of my life and I’m finding it very emotional to say goodbye. I took over from Lorna, who I have to say was a hard act to follow and so loved by everyone, including me - I had big boots to fill! I was first a client when I met Dr Bennie Pienaar at his clinic in the Kiaat Centre, and then when he moved to the 4 ways Centre, it was here that I started working. We then moved to our little wooden hut at Perry’s and finally to the present premises on the corner at Perry’s Bridge.
My Tuesdays and Thursdays for over 13 years have been some of the best days of my life and at the same time some of the saddest. I have learnt more than I ever could have expected and I have met the most wonderful people but even better than them, I have met their pets.
I have worked with what I believe to be some of the best vets around and have also had the privilege to work with the amazing support staff from receptionists, nurses and vet assistants - you guys rock.
To our present team Dr Jana, Emma, Elani, Lawrence and Bongi, you have been an absolute joy to work with and the bond we have established is unbeatable.
Emma Van Heerden will take over from me and I couldn’t wish for a better replacement - Emma has been my relief from from way back when and I first met her whilst she was doing work experience at the clinic when she was still at school, she now has a masters degree in Wildlife Management and is a published author of a scientific paper. Other than that our team remains the same brilliant collaboration.
Just a final message to our clients - thank you for your support. Please be kind to the reception staff - they are often the ones that soothe your puppy or kitten through their first vet visit, the ones that comfort your pets when you are not there, they are the ones that are with your pet when they take their last breath, if you cannot be with, and they are the ones that console and help you with difficult decisions. Just be kind - that’s all

This West African Forest Cobra
cane I yesterday from the Perry’s Bridge Reptile Park for an X Ray.
Unfortunately he did something to his spine.
We are all big fans of the reptiles in the park and love to see them, but not when they are hurt 😞

First visit to the groomers - just a short visit so they can get used to what it’s all about. Little bundles of “fluff” and super wriggly but they enjoyed their visit. Both boys have had their second vaccinations and with a bit of “spit and polish” they are ready to go to a forever home. Please contact the clinic if you are interested in adopting
