Handfeeding of Hyacinth Macaws

Our Handfeeding Formula *Super Fat* is on of our three species specific formula we offer. The timeline shows two ideal growing hyacinth macaws (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus) which got our formula from the first day on. For us it was important to use only natural ingredients. Bakery products, added sugars and further synthetic ingredients are not used at all! Furthermore we target the natural intake of different fruits, seeds, nuts and vegetables in our hand feeding formula which is stimulating the birds digestion and is much closer to what parent birds would feed their chicks. Papaya is also present in our mixtures. It assists in the pre-digestion of proteins, making them easier for the bird to digest once the food reaches the stomach. This process would be similar to how papain works in other contexts, breaking down protein chains into smaller, more digestible fragments.

Wow! Our three home-born Grey Parrot chicks are almost 12 weeks old already. Time flies.

We could have never imagined that the eggs would hatch, let alone that the birds would survive and be so well-fed. I shared the whole story in my first post (when the chicks were 2 weeks old).

12 weeks bring a lot! The birds are very bold, tasting everything, and super curious. Everything must be discovered and tasted. We find it astonishing how easily these young ones can fly and maneuver already. At the same time, they are super sweet, very tame, and fly straight to us when they see us.

Yesterday, they went outside for the first time, and our other two Grey Parrots, Dino and Jodie. The four older ones got a shower, and secretly, the little ones found that interesting too, just like our whole garden.
