We wrapped up the year with our show and awards, and that's another year done and dusted.
Congrats to all our handler and dog teams and to everyone that took a place.
A huge thanks also to all our sponsors for supporting us and making our prize winners feel special.
To our instructors, we can not do this without you and appreciate you giving up your time on the weekends to make positive changes in so many people and dogs' lives.
Looking forward to doing it all over again in 2025. Have a great Christmas and New Years.
See you then.

Today at training was an extremely hot day.
We tried to keep everyone mostly in the shade by doing relays in teams.
It is always great fun and brings out everyone's competitive side
To make sure everyone stayed cool, we had dogs taking dips in the paddle pools scattered around the field.
Summer is going to be on 🔥

Such great feedback from Pitunia's human.
"I want to give some feedback about Pitunia (after just two lessons with you guys). Last weekend, we went on a hike at a park with many other dogs, people, and mountain bikes. Normally, I had so much trouble getting her under control, and eating at the pet-friendly restaurant afterwards was out of the question. I took a friend along with me who knows Pitunia as being a handful. She was so obedient - to the extent that we had a lovely lunch at the restaurant with no issues at all. She listened to all the commands I gave her without too much trouble. My friend even sent me a voicenote later that night saying how he is super impressed with the training so far as he has seen another side of Pitunia and even in my way of handling and speaking to her."
We can only educate and guide. The effort put in at home counts the most. Keep up the good work 🎊

A change from the norm.
Isla and Izzy retrieving an egg from a bowl of water.
Took a little convincing for Isla, while Izzy went straight in. Both girls doing an awesome job and ultimately holding the eggs in their mouths without cracking them.
Until Izzy dropped it on the concrete 🤣

SADTC's tallest dog (first pic) and smallest dog (second pic).
Zeus and Maya both waiting patiently for a recall.
Zeus doing a down wait on the table.
Never did we think Ollie could look tall compared to another dog, but the last pic is him doing just that with his brother.

Our Story

S.A. Dog Training College & Kennels (SADTC) is a dog training school that was established in 1984 by Chris and Christine Van Der Westhuizen, a couple dedicated to teaching others how to encourage the best from their dogs.

We noticed that there was a need for gentler training methods and a demand from dog owners for other courses besides obedience. In 1984, puppy socialising, agility, consultations and the like, were hardly known to South Africans!

SADTC brought these, and many more, courses into South Africa in a big way. Our dog school has led the way for humane methods of training, and have been pioneers for the many methods being used today.
