Hi everyone, pls read this if you are a current hedgie owner, or prospective parent of one.
New legislation is coming into effect re the keeping of exotic animals.
APH (African pygmy hedgehogs) is currently categorised under this heading.
In some provinces they will require you to get a permit/licence in order to keep one, as you will need it for keeping snakes, spiders, iquanas etc.
Apparently it isn't difficult to get, you just have to do it.
One of my clients live in Limpopo. She was told by Nature conservation that she may keep her hedgies, but she may not breed with them.
Please find out what the new rules are in your area.
