As we end off the FeedMana project (don't leave us because there is a new fun project coming up !) I wanted to post some of the photos that touched our hearts - both sad and happy. We worked hard, we cried, we laughed and best of all we made a positive impact on the Wildlife in Mana Pools. Looking back the achievement was phenomenal.
16,300 bales of hay
3,500kgs of game cubes
900 game feeding blocks
50 salt blocks
= 37 truckloads, delivered over 10 weeks
Thank you to every single person who helped make this happen, from the farmers donating hay to the drivers getting it up to Mana, to the people who played in the Golf day, to the companies & individuals that donated, to the people who gave their time - to the whole community - THANK YOU again.

FeedMana update 30 August 2021 (from Peta)

The 2020/2021 rains in Mana were thankfully normal, with all the water pans filling up. The bush at the beginning of the season was thick and grazing plentiful.
As the months pass, the bush dries out and the grazing disappears around July/August, then the trees come into play with the Albida tree dropping their ‘apple rings’, the Kigelia Africana (aka the Sausage Tree) with their leaves and beautiful burgundy flowers. We saw a normal natural cycle and assessed that additional feed was not required. (so grateful !)
There was however, still some money left over from the phenomenal response to our "FeedMana" fundraising, these funds were kept safe and officially administered by VAWZ (Vets for Animal Wellfare).
VAWZ do wonderful work around Zimbabwe caring for animals in distress, neutering rural cats and dogs, administering rabies inoculations, running rural clinics in animal welfare, monitoring livestock care and many other vital projects.
As ‘FeedMana’ we identified a need for rural animal care on the borders of Mana Pools National Park, which would positively impact the game inside the park, particularly with rabies inoculations of domesticated animals in the areas surrounding the park. We felt that the balance of the funds, so generously donated, would go towards this. The positive impact to the park and to the animals in the rural area will be immeasurable.
