Southern Hills Stud

Southern Hills Stud We are currently downsizing our stud and selling the majority of the horses we have bred. There wil We only breed a small number of quality foals each year.

I initially started breeding because I couldn't find my daughter a suitable horse to continue with. I believe in improving on the mare and stallion. Also that having a great mare is the foundation of a breeding program and I am lucky enough to have acquired a few broodmares that fit this bill. There is not a mare on my property that I feel I could replace easily with their quality and movement. I

am very passionate about each mating I use and the resulting foal has years of research and dedication gone into before it even emerges into the world.

El Dorado Jasmin

I always knew this day would come but I am still sad. You were by my side for over 30 years. You were my first foal, my forever girl.

Dam, great dam and great great dam to many beautiful horses that all carried your amazing quiet nature and personality. You would follow me anywhere and trusted me immensely. Especially when you got yourself into some tricky situations but waited patiently for me to get you out of. I love that your babies and your babies babies all have your trust and calmness. One of the great old Quarter Horse Bloodlines that are slowly being diluted into nothingness.

I will never forget you. Rest in peace my beautiful Jazzy girl. I will love you forever

Been quiet for a while as not much to post. Still have all my babies in the paddock but due to alot of times wasters and people saying they will turn up and then don't I decided quite a while ago that I am no longer offering them for sale. They can grow old in my paddocks and become pets. I just can't deal with prepping horses for sale and then the excuses of why they can't come to view or just not showing up at all. Anyway they are happy. Still have my first foal who is turning 32 in January 2021 and the youngest foals which are now 3 year olds. Things change, my beautiful daughter who rode all our horses, now has a baby of her own so that takes priority. Maybe a few years down the track we will get back into it but happy to take a back seat and enjoy watching my friends and their horses. Anyway I would like to wish everyone a very happy and prosperous 2021. HAPPY NEW YEAR from Southern Hills Stud.

Well we finally after 10 years of trying made it to a WA Newcomer show. After a mishap the weekend before we were not sure we were even going to be able to attempt the trip but we did and we competed. For us it was an accomplishment to just get there. We were very happy with how Southern Hills King of Hearts worked even though we still have a long way to go to reach perfect workouts. Top 4 Newcomer Large Galloway and Top 4 Intermediate Galloway on the Saturday. We contemplated scratching on Sunday as he was a little sore but after a quick Bowen Therapy before Intermediate he loosened up and we were able to compete in the Open Show Large Galloway to be awarded 1st Runner up. I'm always my biggest critic and there is heaps to improve but all in all he is a delight to prep and show. Thank you to the sponsors for the show and the organisers who make it happen. Also the competitors cause without you there is no competition.

Expressions of Interest $5000. Palomino QH Stallion Kings Golden Shadowfax. Approximately 14.2 hh (never measured)
15 years old.

I am no longer breeding and although I am happy for Goldie to live out his days with me on our farm I am putting out an expression of interest for anyone wishing to purchase a fully registered QH Stallion with old bloodlines. He will not be for lease and only sold to an approved home. All his breeding fees are up to date. He is an easy stallion to hand serve or paddock serve. He is extremely quiet and passes this nature onto his babies. He has been broken but not ridden or shown after 3 due to an eye injury as a youngster. He did do very well at the few shows we did attend.

Here is the link to his AQHA profile:
https://aqha.icompete.net/Studbook/Animals/Details/136555

He has to date only bred colts. He has bred Buckskin, Palomino, Bay, Chestnuts out of solid bay or chestnut mares. He is the colour or a newly minted gold coin with irridesence. He has no s**tt and his babies to date have no s**t. He has a pure white mane and tail. He tends to put good bling on his babies and they also generally mature higher than both parents as he has height on his dams side. There are many photos of his babies on my Southern Hills Stud Page. Please feel free to pm me for any further questions.

Finally got 5 minutes to post our results from the weekends 2019 State Arabian Championships held at the SEC on the weekend. Can't wait for official photos so for now a hot sweaty Elvis off my phone will have to do as I am so proud of him. We went up purely for the experience and was happy for him to just soak up the atmosphere of a big show but he exceeded our expectations both in results and his willingness to work. He just got better and better throught the day. Even though it was 34 degress and we are used to a maximum of 22 he just kept on impressing us.
