We were privileged to assess a lucky red-bellied black snake today. This beautiful snake was rescued from entanglement in a box of bird netting by the experienced hands of Jake the Snake's Reptile Relocation Service Wollondilly . It was fortunately spared from severe wounds, and we are hoping a small period of rest gives the snake time to heal. Then it can relocate back to the wild, keeping our ecosystem healthy and whole.

We are proud to service ALL of our Australian wildlife, as within our means. While venemous snakes can be deadly and frightening to encounter, they are vital members of our wildlife community. For safety, Dr Celia ONLY assesses venemous snakes presented by experienced and licensed snake catchers like Jake. If a snake threatens the security of your home, we ask you to contact experienced hands such as these. This is safest for you, and for the snake!

FOUND: bantam chook (cockrel*), in rough shape but with a strong spirit!

He was found roadside on Great Southern Road, just up from Bargo Rd. He's in poor condition and absolutely famished, so he may have been out a while!

If this is your chookie, please let us know so he may go home for some much needed TLC!

(In the event no owner comes forward for him, we will offer him for adoption to an experienced home that is prepared to rehabilitate his poor condition)

Edit: Dr Celia is not as familiar withPekins as other breeds, so she shall defer to the experience of others and refer to this individual as a cockrel!

UPDATE: ADOPTED!!! In record time!! :D
FOR ADOPTION: No one has come for this gorgeous bun, so we are putting her up for adoption! Okay, folks, it turns out there IS something to make the week *even better*

Our littlest kitten, "Thomas", is officially ADOPTED!! His new family is already in love with him, and Thomas is excited to take on the role of Professional Lap-Sitter!

Also, how precious is his little kitten carrier!! He'll probably outgrow it fast, but for now it's possibly adorable enough to cure cancer. (Okay MAYBE that's an exaggeration...but just sayin'!!)

If you're still looking for a new kitten, CJ is still waiting for his forever family. He's thriving and will give someone the time of their lives!

What a better way to end a week, than a few bushels of Sugar and Squirrel Gliders! Our friends at Australian Wildlife Sanctuary brought in a whopping 14 Gliders to microchip for identification (plus two super adorable younglings we decicided were too ittybitty). Every one has its own character, and their lovely caretaker can tell each and every one apart--Somehow! Always a privilege to work with such healthy and vibrant native sweethearts!

Australian Wildlife Sanctuary offers many engaging educational opportunies. Whether you're local or not, check them out!

FOR ADOPTION:
Happy Valentines Day, everyone! To help everyone find their True Love, we'd like to introduce our new adoption kitty, Thomas. He's going to tell you a little bit about himself, and some friends of his!!

UPDATE:
WOW! Little Thomas is super excited because a lovely family has already contacted us! At this time, Thomas is ADOPTION PENDING. If you're still interested, feel free to let us know and we can follow up with you if his adoption falls through, or if he ends up being a poor match for the new family :) And don't forget, CJ and Beans are still looking for love!!

--
Hello, Everyone! I'm Thomas! I'm almost 8wks old, and some of you already know me! I'm the little stripey one in the pictures!!
Last week, I was rescued from a narrow miss on the tracks at Bargo Train Station. I don't have a family, but I'd really like one! I will purr and purr and purr for you, and we can have lots of adventures!

If I'm not the right kitty for you, that's okay! I want everyone to find true love! I have a new friend, CJ, who is also available for adoption. He's mostly white, but he's got a really cool orange tail that's fun to chase! You can find out more about him here on this page! I'd really love for him to find a good home too; he plays so much! Whew!

I've also heard about a momma cat named "Beans"! Her kittens have all grown up and gone to new families, but no one has come for her yet :( Her Human is taking good care of her, but she doesn't get on with the human's other kitties. If you want an adult kitty, she may be good for you! I heard she's very nice. Her human is Jen Cronin, ask her if you're interested!!

FOUND: (new listing) approx 7wk old male tabby kitten, no microchip

The poor fellow was valiantly saved by a community member from the train tracks near the Bargo Station. While he is young and a bit skinny, he is VERY friendly and vocal, and we are hoping his family lost him with the recent storms. If you're missing a kitten by this description, please feel free to call in.

As he is lacking a microchip, some type of proof of ownership is required for pick up.

((As an additional note, perhaps be mindful if you are near the station to keep an eye out for additional kittens. If you are suspicious for a litter, we recommend calling the council rangers, RSPCA, or possibly the train management, rather than attempting to retrieve them yourselves!! Please don't turn into train splatter!! We are very grateful to the community members who saved this fellow, and we are *Extra* grateful he managed to do so in time to avoid the arriving train!!))

FOR ADOPTION: No one has come forward for this precious boy, so "CJ" is now up for adoption. CJ ("Colby Jack") is a sweet boy who requests lots of play and engagement! CJ is still learning about how to play with humans, but he's adjusting his "Tactics" with time and consistency. So far, he has tested well with Dr Celia's cats and her dog, and we expect he will fit well into any household who is prepared to meet his play requirements and continue to work with him on gentle cat-to-human play.

CJ will be vaccinated, microchipped, and desexed prior to adoption. Adoption fee of $175 applies, which goes toward his care while with us.

REMINDER: if you are interested in a kitten, and CJ is not to your taste, some of the kittens we previously advertised here for a client are still available!!

FOUND: Mostly-white male kitten (roughly 16wks old) Avon Dam Rd. No microchip.
VERY handleable, friendly, good body condition. Are you missing your friend?

As he is not microchipped, knowledge of his fairly unique markings and some proof of ownership is required. Please call during business hours, or message our facebook.

Big thank you to Bean 2 Bargo for assisting us with a temporary "cone collar" for one of our smaller patients!! "Ryder" required some minor surgery and wasn't too thrilled about his stitches when he woke up! He just needed his cup of coffee for a little bit, then he was right as rain!! He has gone back to his drey and his mate and is recovering well

It is going to be HOT today, everyone!! Keep your pets inside in a climate controlled area. Lots of water. Limit your pet's exercise to early morning and late evening. Those of you with short-faced dogs/cats, rabbits, old critters, and birds, please be so especially careful!

If you can, this is also one of the times it is wonderful to leave out water for wildlife! If you would like, please place water in a safe, shaded, and sheltered area. It's a good idea yo use a stick or similar item to make an "escape ramp" for smaller wildlife that may slip in!

It's already getting warm, and summer is looking to be a HOT ONE! Have you prepared your pet for the heat? Several breeds (Smushy-faces!) and species (Rabbits!) are more susceptible to heat stress/stroke, but ANY pet who over-exerts themselves, plays too hard, or doesn't drink enough water can become unwell.

Do your pets and livestock have:
+ Ample Shade and Ventilation? + Cooling air-flow?
+ Easy-Access cool clean water? + Is it under or very-near the shade?
+ Regular checking for safety and comfort?

If not, now is the time to get situated, before the real heat of the summer rolls in! We've already had a patient present with emergency heat stroke, please don't let your pet be next!

Dandelion hopes everyone is bundled up warm and dry this winter! Lookin super flash trying out the special little jumper donated to us for cold patients in recovery.

Looking for a bit of extra warmth yourself? Dandelion would love to trade in a jumper for your cuddles!! If you're looking for a special furball, drop us a line and see if Dandy is right for you!!

29/05/2023

Dandelion is working hard to stay fresh for when his new family finds him! He's also working on his jumps, so he can leap straight into your heart.

Dandelion is still looking for his forever home! His injury is healing very well (he is stronger every day!), and his cuddle-monster heart is shining for every one he meets, just waiting for the right arms to fall into. We have continued to evaluate his interactions with other animals, and believe he would do well with any other respectful dogs or cats. He loves cuddles so much, though, so he shouldn't be in a home where is personality and cuddle time is drowned out by too many other voices.

For any inquiries, you can contact us, or Dr Celia Gaches, Veterinarian directly!
