A beautiful, sunny winter day for our rally today. We welcomed two new members and had fantastic lessons with Robyn Todd. Lunch was a delicious spread including a hearty soup. New members welcome! 🤗

Dear competitors,
After much discussion the committee of Balnarring Equestrian Club has made the difficult decision to postpone our 3 Phase Equitation competition due to the extreme heat that has been forecasted for this Sunday.

We understand that this may be disappointing to some riders, however our priority lies with the safety of you, your horses, the judges and our volunteers. The following factors were considered when reaching this decision:
- Forecast of 33 degrees on Sunday, with the possibly to go even higher than that
- Saturday and Monday both have temperatures in high thirties meaning that a cool change or riding early /late on the day to ‘beat the heat’ will not be viable.
- Horses traveling in floats in extreme heat, with the high possibility to be stuck in traffic due to Red Hill Show and the Tyabb Airshow.
- Fairness to judges, pencilers and all our volunteers
- Limited number of wash bays for cooling down horse correctly and safely.

At this stage we don't have the new date just yet, but we will let you know as soon as we can. Should you be unable to attend on the new date, you can email Event Secretary for a refund.

We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused but we hope to see you at the new date.

Please stay safe and hydrated, look after yourself and your trusty steeds.

As we head towards another weekend of predicted high temperatures across the state and beyond, HRCAV encourages members to review their plans for training or competition. Whatever your plans may be with your horses it is critical to consider the potential dangers and impacts of riding in extreme heat.

What adjustments will you make to ensure that you and your horses are well prepared to avoid heat related illnesses?

The HRCAV’s Adverse Weather and Heat Policy and Extreme Heat Guidelines contain a wealth of information to help members navigate the upcoming high temperatures and be on alert for signs of heat stress in their horses. The Policy is linked below.

Come and join us at our September Rally with Samantha Bray at Wilkira Park. We are offering flat and poles lessons. It is a great way to get horses out and about in a low key environment, no competition stress and we are a supportive bunch of people ;)

It is $40 per lesson including facility fee. If you are not a HRCAV member yet, you will have to pay an additional $40 day insurance.
We will have hot beverages, water and some soda available for purchase in the kitchen.

Every rider, who hasn't been to Wilkira Park this year, has to sign a waiver. They are located on the left pole at the gate of the indoor arena.
