Jack! We got a call to attend to Jack at his home ,as his owner is unable to get to the clinic ,thus we have always dine housecalls to see to Jack's veterinary care over the years. We have done cranial cruciate ligament rupture surgery on both his stifles over the years. This time round ,his owners reported that Jack is losing weight and bumping into inanimate objects in addition to drinking loads of water and passing huge amounts of urine a syndrome we call polyruria/ polydipsia (PU/PD). Physical examination revealed cataracts in both eyes. Further blood tests coupled with physical examination findings concluded a definitive diagnosis of diabetic cataracts. He was put on insulin immediately and an appointment was made at the Animal Eye Specialists in Malvern. We had to take him there for his appointments and surgery to remove the cataracts as his owner doesn't drive. Jack has been very stable on his insulin treatment and his eyesight fully restored. If your animalbin drinking or eating more than normal book them for examination and blood tests at Vetcare Hawthorn on (03) 9813 4977.
