IS HYDRATION IN CATS REALLY IMPORTANT? 💦

You probably know the answer to this question! And it is yes 👍🏼

Water is essential to keeping your cat healthy💧

Cats normally don’t have a high thirst-drive (compared to dogs), and this can lead to chronic low-level dehydration if a cat is mostly fed dry food, which in turn, can lead to urinary tract and kidney problems ‼️

With properly hydrating your cat, you can help prevent urinary tract disease and promote healthy kidney function by flushing out toxins ✅

Even though cats can get moisture from a raw or canned diet, they should still have plenty of fresh water available at all times. Try one or all of the following tips/suggestions!

“Ancient Egyptians worshipped many animals for thousands of years. Animals were revered for different reasons.

Dogs were valued for their ability to protect and hunt, but cats were thought to be the most special.

Egyptians believed cats were magical creatures, capable of bringing good luck to the people who housed them.

To honor these treasured pets, wealthy families dressed them in jewels and fed them treats fit for royalty. When the cats died, they were mummified. As a sign of mourning, the cat owners shaved off their eyebrows, and continued to mourn until their eyebrows grew back.

INTRODUCING ME 👋🏼

There’s a few of you that’s new here so I thought I’d introduce myself!

✨ I'm Mon 👋🏼(short for Monica)

✨I'm a wife, and mum to a cat named Liza 🐱

✨I work full-time in the financial services industry 💼 The Happy Cat Box is my passion project 🌈

✨ Born and raised in the Philippines 🇵🇭 and moved here in 2015 to pursue my studies. I absolutely fell in love with this country (and my husband) so here I am 🤷🏻‍♀️

✨ When I’m not working, you’ll find me in the kitchen cooking, in my study planning away (I’m a big planner!) or listening to podcasts 👩‍🍳

✨ I do powerlifting with my husband and we train about 2-3 times a week 🏋️‍♀️

Happy Easter long weekend eve! 🐣🐰

Easter is a time for cute bunnies, chocolate treats, festive baskets, and pretty flowers 🌸

However, a few Easter staples are toxic to cats ‼️

Check out this list of Easter dangers for cats so you can keep your kitty safe as you celebrate:

1️⃣ EASTER LILLIES
All lilies are toxic to cats. Keep these out of your house.

2️⃣ PLASTIC GRASS
Cats love to play with decorative grass. If swallowed, it wreaks havoc on the digestive tract, where it can become trapped, requiring surgical removal. Paper grass is safer as they can digest this.

3️⃣ CHOCOLATES
Cats are less likely to sneak sweets than dogs, but chocolate is just as toxic to cats.

4️⃣ CATS ESCAPING
Put your cats away in a back room when guests come over so your cat doesn’t escape or guests don’t accidentally let your cats out.

Now you can rest assured you can safely celebrate this wonderful holiday with your kitties!
