Excessive rubbing can be a sign of itchy skin disease in cats. It can also be a behaviour to alleviate stress. Red spots in this area are particularly important to check out as it is also a common skin cancer area for kitties as well.

Oh no! It’s flea season! Our lovely heaters which fight the cold also hatch the flea eggs and set an infestation in motion. Make sure you don’t let fleas into your house, an outbreak happens quickly and takes 6 months on average to get under control.

Nurse Tashi is so incredible! We are so lucky to have her as the face of our clinic at the front desk and chief cuddler of dogs. Often you walk into the hospital and find Dr Tashi with a dog in her jacket, a pup on her lap or sitting in a cage with a dog needing a hug. She has been with North Coast Veterinary Services since the beginning and she still makes every day better.

Amazing nurse Amy! She is a treasure. She got into vet nursing because of her farm animals, but now she loves everyone who comes in the clinic. Amy is often helping out on farm with Dr Lauren and Dr Claire. She also can be seen making sure all the pets who come into the clinic feel loved. We are so lucky to have her looking out for our patients!

We know you love your greyhound when you wear this top to the vet!

We love the greyhounds too! Dr Lauren has been working with greyhounds for most of her career and now Dr Claire and Dr Bonnie are learning about these unique dogs. Especially with so many rehomed greyhound pets in our area, it’s important to know how to treat these special fur babies.

Mixed practice is amazing, and our Dr Claire is an inspiring vet. Yesterday between enjoying kitten cuddles she organised novel cancer treatment, gave a goat a blood transfusion, operated on patients, consulted about infected ears, helped a lame horse, and vaccinated pets. Such a diverse day and such an amazing woman to get it all done.

We love our Dr Claire at North Coast Veterinary Services!

Sarah is 15 years old today. After a night in hospital she is going to enjoy her birthday treats!

Acquiring a ct scan is a quick process. At North Coast Veterinary Services we are scanning patients everyday looking for lung disease, tumours, disc problems, elbow malformations, gall stones, brain abnormalities… it’s amazing what we can see. I’m just over a minute we could get the images required to diagnose this dog with gallstones and an intestine tumour. Then he was able to have surgery to fix him! It’s amazing to have such a great diagnostic tool.

Dr Lauren’s cat Terry has discovered she loves mango yogurt ice blocks. It is definitely not an everyday treat but pretty cute when she is so keen!

These steps are a miracle. It results from from loving dedicated owners. Boy was paralysed for months with polyradiculoneuropathy. We are so proud of being part of his heath care team to get this lovely man up and moving again. His owners were so dedicated. Keeping him socialised and comfortable throughout his paralysis. Congratulations Boy and family!
