🎨 🐕 About
My name is Clare and I'm an illustrator (drawing dogs is my thing!) I've taken up house/pet sitting to have more animals in my life and the ability to work from [your] home on my passion (illustration) part of the week. I work 3 days per week at Clean Paws Dog Grooming in Byron Bay, it's my day job which I also love. Please note I will only take sits within a 30 minute radius of Byron Arts and Industrial Estate.
I am 34yo, not currently in a relationship and focused on building my small business (Hound Town) and establishing myself in the children's book industry. House/pet sitting is part of the plan which will help give me some financial freedom to make my dream of being a full-time illustrator a reality, and I also love the opportunity to spend time with a variety of pets and in new neighbourhoods. I have been in the Byron area for the past 10 years (originally from Brisbane) and love our community in the Northern Rivers. I don't have any of my own pets.
🐶 🐱 Experience
I have extensive experience looking after cats and dogs. I grew up in a house with many animals including dogs, cats, birds, mice, fish, turtles and more. I have been house/pet sitting since August 2022 so have almost 6 months of experience with other people's pets. I’ve looked after horses, ducks, chickens and plants. 📆 Booking
I prefer sits over 2 weeks and will prioritise 3+ week stays, but I will accept some shorter stays where it works into my calendar so please get in touch either way. I will book longer stays in around 2/3 months in advance but don’t hesitate to get in touch and let me know of a holiday you’re planning down the track. For less than 1 week sits I will lock these in a month in advance.
🐾 Process
We can have a meet and greet before locking anything in so you feel confident I’m the right fit for you and your pet/s. I will be working from home during the stay so having a nice space to work from is definitely a factor I look for - a tidy, light-filled, clean, uncluttered space is ideal for me.
💕 🎾 🦴 What you can expect
I will treat your home and pets with care, courtesy, respect and love. Happy to take the dog/s for walks and follow the routine they are used to. I also love well-behaved pets and am happy to do some training each day if necessary to keep them more manageable and stimulated. I know a thing or two about grooming so can meet your dog's grooming needs easily. Your pet's well-being is the most important thing and I always go the extra mile to ensure they are happy and as well looked after as possible - I really care.
🏄♀️ My Schedule
I work 3 days per week and will likely be out of the house for 8 hours on those days. I surf a few times per week too so may be in and out of the house during the other days, while some days I will spend most of the day at home. I also enjoy spending some dinners with friends so may be out during the evening sometimes. Please consider whether your pet/s will cope with this kind of schedule - I’m happy to take them with me where I can if it is safe to do so.
I enjoy running so would love to run your dog some afternoons, but I’m also happy to adapt to their needs and routine first and fit mine around that.
💰 Cost
Happy to work these house sits as an exchange.
I would like to ask $30/night, similar to what a kennel would cost and a small price for a daily walk/run, attention, care and any little extras along the way (like bones, treats, toys). But I’m also open to working it as an exchange to stay in your home. I will supply an agreement to ensure we're both protected.
