As we say goodbye to our first ever advertised special event here at the reptile zoo I need to acknowledge all the amazing staff and volunteers that went above and beyond. Not just in interacting with and engaging the visitors but the whole behind the scenes set up, maintenance and pack up that was not possible without them.
This special event may be over for now but the reptile zoo has some incredible permanent displays, major upgrades and future even bigger events planned.
So thank you for your support by attending and we hope to see even more of you in the future 🙏😍

Not the smoothest snake release we have ever done! Goes to show how these creatures don’t exactly always do what we want …. But no one died in the making of this film so we figure in the long run it was a win-win
Tim here is releasing a brown snake we caught earlier today in someone’s garden shed.
In case you’re wondering, snakes have to be released within 5 km of where we find them so we go to the nearest reserve or safe place to let them go.

DID YOU KNOW that the reptile zoo’s weekly feed includes apple, banana, sweet corn, broccoli, butternut pumpkin, capsicum, carrots, zucchini, baby leaf salad mix, cucumber, sweet potatoes, bok choy, spinach, chicken breast, fillets, chuck steak, chicken drumsticks, chicken, liver, chicken hearts, chicken necks, eggs and the list goes on ….. of course, this doesn’t include the frozen rats, cockroaches or crickets, earthworms, mealworms and fly pupae.
Our rather bizarre, long and diverse shopping list is because we believe in nothing but the best for our scaly pals and we change it out every single day 7 days a week .
Reptiles have a very different metabolism to warm blooded creatures like us and usually it is quite inexpensive to feed one of these creatures at home. When you have as many as we do, it becomes an interesting exercise 🙂.

Not so wild snake catching !!! We often get asked “ how do you get these snakes here and do you leave them in these enclosures”….. well no.
Even if an event goes over several days we remove and return all the animals to their original enclosures ( home) at the end of each shift.
This video is just a sample of us placing a red belly black snake into a temporary display….. no comments about the boss’s hair ! His very precious about it 😂😂. We think it’s to distract you if the snake gets away . 🤔😋
