Raw Salmon Heads Can be Fed Whole
No need to debone or otherwise prepare salmon heads!
Just like any other raw meaty bones, you can feed raw salmon heads whole.
That includes gills and bones.
Remember, raw bones are soft and pliable.
They only turn brittle and can splinter when they’re cooked.
That’s why us humans pick them out of our cooked fish.
Next time you get ready to cook up a fish for yourself, pick out a raw fishbone and compare it to one that’s been cooked.
You’ll notice the difference!
My guess is that the raw salmon heads are about 80% meat and 20% bone, the frames may differ so they are a great meal.
If your dog is too small for a salmon head or whole frame or his teeth are in a bad condition, you could simply grind it or chop it up for him.
Frames & heads are frozen the minimum critical freezing temperature for processing/storage of raw salmon is at −20°C for 24 hours. When sustained for at least 24 hours, this temperature will destroy bacterium present in raw salmon to make it safe to feed your dog or cat. Sold from $7.50 per frame and heads are in a two pack on special at the money for $5.95 so why not give your pet a try at salmon!

The weather forecast is looking fantastic, the canola is in full swing and preparations are well underway for the annual 2024 Woodstock Memorial Show. This pic by captured the record breaking crowds from last year, and we’re hoping to smash those numbers again this year! With a record breaking line up of 48 market stalls, renowned entertainment and classic family favourites, it’s set to be one for the history books!

Our Q & A session with Pauline Gill today went great 😊 some of the topics that were brought up were correct etiquette for walking a dog in public. Some information about assistance dogs, information about different breeds and what they are suited to such as their temperaments,energy levels & history of the breed.
Big thank you to Pauline at Tapua Labrador Retrievers, Sumo Shakes for some yummy donuts 🍩 and my helpers.
The next information session we have planned is 17 September and it is about working dogs in suburbia so if you have a working dog /cattle or sheep dog breed as a pet please ask for some more information about this event 🐶

Be Snake Aware . Found this guy at a property gateway today 🐍 * Take your dogs walking on paths or park footpaths and keeping them on a lead. If you find yourself in overgrown grassed areas, the more vibration to the ground you make, the better. Any tricks, mowers etc can make sufficient vibration to send snakes heading for the hills. Alternatively, stomp as heavy as you can through the grass which should send a message to them to leave. *Clean-up clutter on site and around the house * Teach your dog to come when they are called. Good recall in your dog maybe the only thing that saves them when they find a snake if your around and can call them away from it. * Know your vets number & be aware if basic first aid for humans and pets. Talk to your vet.
