Huffy has been up since 2 am he is on painkillers including Methodone after we rushed him to the vet hospital early this morning

Please send prayers for Huffy he woke up coughing at midnight it only lasted an hour but our next door's furbabies have kennel cough just hoping he has not caught it

Some of you might wonder why Benjamin, Winslow and Walter have such unique looks and that is because all three boys have a RARE LYSOSOMAL STORAGE DISEASE called Mucopolysacchodosis type 6 also known as MPS VI. It is caused when there is an absence or malfunction of a certain enzyme that is used by the body to break down long chains of sugar. It’s a rare and progressive storage disorder which causes their short stature, muscle and bone abnormalities, enlarged tongues, organ enlargement, unique looks and many and I mean many health problems as well as a SHORTENED LIFE EXPECTANCY of 2-4 years of age on average. This disorder is usually caused when two parents are carriers of the gene defect and are bred. The disease is constantly changing their bodies and eventually will cause them to not be able to walk but all three boys have adapted to their changing bodies and love/loved life! Sadly there is no cure for this disease just supportive care and lots of TLC.

I photographed a special boy yesterday. Milo was left in a ditch by the side of a country road, paralyzed from the waist down. His injury wasn’t a new one, so it seems he was dumped by his owners. Thankfully, this isn’t the end of Milo’s story.

Milo is a young boy who is affectionate and gentle, but he has had zero adoption interest due to his special needs. He is well cared for in the shelter, but he needs to move into a home where he can decompress and receive the love and care he deserves.

Milo is currently in Alabama but can be transported north. Do you know a foster-based rescue group or adopter who would love Milo? Will you help me share his story so the right people will see his sweet face?
