Got lights on all the tanks on the breeding wall. Bit of fine tuning to go and lids need a good clean.. trying to get everything off the lids, to give it a cleaner look.
Petrochromis macrognanthus Katete. This guys was a sook and got singled out from the main colony, his colouring is super special and unusual and he is such a character.
Still trying to get a good shot of the Red Kachese when they are fired up. Allways miss it, as with most groups as soon as the camera gets close they freak out a bit.
Maswa are always great to watch, pulled 25 fry from them last week lots of the girls are syncing up and holding at the same time...
Added about 15 fry back to the Murago (Maculatus) "Lusingu" colony, close to 40 individuals now. Also finally got some lights on their tank, such a smoking hot looking fish.
Ok so I walked into the fish room yesterday and it sounded different quieter, just water noise and no bubbles... Instantly I knew the pump had died. Luckily I have a spare which I quickly swapped out. Until I got a chance today to replace the diaghrams in the broken pump. Thought I would take the opportunity to make a quick video on how to do it. Any question feel free to ask. It's allways best practice to have spare parts on hand, so you can do basic repairs, if I don't have a spare pump, or parts I would be waiting 3days for bits to arrive..
I am sure we all have multiple hobbies and addictions lol, for me I also have a thing for Alocasia plants, which are a purely tropical plant... While it isn't to cold here normally they are not happy in the wind and cool outside, so into the shed where it is nice and warm and humid. Alocasia like tangs can be a bit troublesome being susceptible to root rot if too wet, but really like a good drink, and then there are pests like spidermites... If you repot, or upset their roots they sulk and loose their leaves. Anyways they are super happy in the shed..
Papilo Kanoni and a little morning sun 🔥🔥
Added a few sheves around the room today, one to store my bulk food on. And the other Infront of the window, as a nursery area for young, and propagating Alocasia corms. The temp and humidity are perfect for them in the shed, as outside moves closer to winter. 🥶
The new Mpimbwe black bee fry have settled into their new tank really well and a few are starting to shine as males...
Last week I Moved the hopefully a pair of papilo Kanoni in with them from the rowdy Ventralis tank, hopefully the calmer environment promotes some sexy time with them lol... Also added the gold head comp fry so they have some room to establish pairs... Plant is still sorting itself out The Amazon sword is doing well and throwing new leaves the crypts and val not much hopefully it bounces back.
So pumped for these kendalli fry, they are growing really well, but watching them cautiously, in the past once they get to 4-5 cm they start predating on each other. A bigger tank is ready to go... These should be available at 5-6cm hopefully in June/July.
Leleupi, ornatapinnis, sumbu, and, tret fry. There were few issues in this tank a few weeks ago. A few of the neighbouring Kendalli fry jumped in from next door, and all the sumbu fry are now gone! And one morningl I woke up and most of the Tret fry were dead at 10-12mm and not sure why. Best I could come up with was a few trets got bigger quicker and were moved to the kendalli fry tank. Leleupi and ornats are going well... The adult leleupi tank has had 5 subsequent spawns and have just left them, they are also growing well...
Update on the sexie and black calvus fry growing well on the otohime B1 fry food. Some of the sexies are 15-18mm now and U can see stripes!
Something different, Cylindricus have wriggles...!!
