for those who have a pup out of our Willow breeding on behalf of my mum we would just like apologise for such a delay in pedigrees. 👩‍🏫 There is a body of evidence that shows coconut oil might not be the superfood you thought it was ...

🥥 Coconut oil is advertised as being high in MCTs (medium-chain triglycerides) … but half of them are lauric acid which is an LCT (long-chain triglycerides) … not the beneficial MCTs that can slow dementia, reduce seizures and slow heart disease.

MCTs are broken down much quicker than the LCTs in lauric acid. MCTs enter the bloodstream, reach the liver and are converted to ketones to provide instant fuel for the liver, brain and body … and are less likely to be stored as fat.

The LCTs in lauric acid go through several steps before reaching the blood stream and are ultimately stored as fat. Research shows lauric acid increases inflammation more than any other saturated fatty acid … so it can impede the benefits provided by true MCTs.

And lauric acid is anti-bacterial … but that’s a problem. The cell walls of some bacteria in your dog’s gut (gram-negative bacteria) contain an endotoxin that can cause an immune reaction … and low-grade inflammation. However, lauric acid can kill the gram-negative bacteria, which is normally a good thing … but that releases the endotoxins from the cell walls into the body ... potentially leading to more disease-causing inflammation.

🥥 But coconut oil isn’t all bad. It has natural antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-fungal properties so it’s great to heal cuts and wounds. It can also be used on your dog’s skin and coat to hydrate the skin and stop itching from dry skin. And some even say it repels fleas and ticks if you rub it into your dog’s coat.

Just use caution when feeding it to your dog.

Better yet, to get the benefits of MCTs, give your dog MCT oil without lauric acid.

Layla is such a character with all her different faces, didn’t do to much today just more exposure to a couple of different things in the park to which she did so well with ☺️ she truly is turning into such an amazing dog and we’re so excited for her future

It’s unfortunate the picture quality isn’t great, but! This is such a huge step for Layla and misty ( one of our cats ). Usually misty will tease Layla by acting all sweet and friendly and then when layla takes a step forward to approach her she’ll sprint off hissing ( dramatic much 🙄 ), but tonight when I let layla inside misty was asleep on Laylas bed and ever so carefully layla climbed into bed and sat next to her, was she impressed? Absolutely not, did it last longer then a few seconds? Heck no 😂 but is it huge progress? It absolutely is and I was so proud of them 😂
