Training Course Overview
As part of the training course, you will be asked to spend at least one month in each class level (Baby Puppies, Class 1, Class 2, Class 3 and Class 4), the first couple of classes observing, and then assisting the instructor in teaching the exercises, and expanding to running the classes under supervision.
Theory Lectures
The course also includes the following COMPULSORY lectures:
Session 1: Baby Puppy 1
Session 2: Baby Puppy 2
Session 3: Baby Puppy 3
Session 4: Baby Puppy 4
Session 5: Beginners
Session 6: Class 1
Session 7: Class 2
Session 8: Class 3
Session 9: Class 4
Session 10: Revision and Questions
These lectures consist of a talk, by a nominated class instructor and/or Supervisor of Training, outlining what is taught at each level, followed by question time. The time taken to complete each session will depend on the length of the session and the time available. Some sessions are more complex and will naturally take longer to teach and learn.
The course takes between 6 to 12 months to complete (depending on your availability).
The course is only applicable to Obedience instructing, up to Class 4 level, further training is required to instruct in Obedience Ring Work, Rally or Agility.
On completion of the course, Trainees are tested by the Supervisor of Training and at least one other instructor.
The test consists of your knowledge of the Club rules, followed by practical sessions instructing in Baby Puppy and Class 2 to demonstrate your ability to teach to the required standard.
Once you have passed your instructors test, you will be able to select which classes you would like to teach.
If you are interested in attending this information session, please see the Supervisor of Training (John), so as the event can be appropriately catered for.
