Hey peeps. Sugar has been diagnosed with Cushings disease. 15 years old, arthritic and blind enough to not be allowed to drive, we're not sure what this means for her future. With baby Boo already in hospice old age care, I guess we'll just love and appreciate them the best we can, every single day.

Boo had his vet appointment yesterday. Unfortunately......taking into consideration his age (14), existing conditions, quality of life and the no guarantee of how long he will live after over $5k surgery/scans/chemo, we will be pursuing a bucket list hospice care for the little guy.

So old mate decided to get sick for the holidays. Trip to the vet has resulted in mast cell tumour(s) diagnosis, antibiotics and anti inflammatory drugs for the Christmas holidays followed by biopsies and surgery in the new year.

Old Mate Ali has moved back inside, high possibility, permanently, to the aged care unit. As a 20 something years old cockatiel, he's tired, can't regulate his temperature properly and sleeps alot. He still eats and drinks but at a slower pace. Pepper has put her nurse hat back on.

Boo has left the building.
The recovery gazebo has been packed up. The cone of silence is off. He has cool scars with stitches still poking out. Free to roam the earth.....
Has spent freedom sleeping and eating

Boo update: vet trimmed the offending stitch and after a few yummy treats, we are now home. Cone is staying on for a little longer, but, soon he should only have cool scars to show the ladies at the resort.

*I woke him up mid sleep.
Boo update: Our 6pm appointment has been moved to 9:50am because of a suture/stitches poking out of the top of his wound. I was assuming the dissolvable stitches had dissolved but one has appeared this morning out of the void to elevate my heart rate that only my fitbit would be proud of. On a side note the other side looks healed, so we'll take a small win. He's definitely 100% had enough of me, his wound and the cone.

Boo update with no picture (no one wants to see that): collar staying on 😕 left side wound has healed but... .... right side wound stitches have not aided in closing the wound and now it has opened 😬 no infection or blood so, we are now keeping the wound clean until his next appointment on the 9th *unless things go to 💩 prior. I have been given all the right equipment ie swabs soaked in He's already on pain meds, for his existing condition, so he doesn't feel it.

It's tricky keeping him in the recovery gazebo 🤦🏽‍♀️ I've discovered muscles I didn't know I had. Fetching an old with a cone on his head from the garden and carrying him back to his bed, without getting peed on is a skill in itself.
