We’ve been a little busy these past few weeks/months!
We have welcomed into our home some furry visiting guests in our Bed & Better Behaviour service.

Taking a close up with this sweet boy is HUGE! And for so many reasons.

I’d like to introduce Freddy. He is a Lagotto Romagnolo who finds this human world scary and overwhelming at times. His family welcomed him as an older aged puppy who had not experienced much when he was in his at most critical learning periods of his young life.

He is currently in a Private Program where we are teaching him that there are indeed positive associations that can be made in the outside world. Going at Freddy’s pace, learning about his body language, advocating for him and using lots of what Freddy truely feels is rewarding as they are paired up with his triggers.

So incredibly proud with Freddy and his family doing all the work and it is already starting to pay off! This beautiful boy showed AND truely FELT more confident, happier, relaxed and EVEN playful in our second session!

We have this sweetheart joining us today as she’s doing a Test Night in our Bed & Better Behaviour Service.

Messina is a very recent Puppy Class graduate 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 and will be shortly attending Manners Class to further develop her skills and learn even more!

Messina is doing very well, pretty much settling in straight away after arriving! She’s met Ripley, and that introduction went smoothly. The two are BFF’s now 😄.

The purpose of a Test Night is to ensure, to the best of our ability, to help our newbie Messina cope with being in a new environment, away from her family & home, meeting new dogs that also might be boarding here, support Messina’s training and use management to prevent unwanted behaviours.

Messina is pretty much acing her Test Night so far! A few more testing protocols to undertake such as mock departures, sleeping overnight, and true absences. I am very hopeful Messina will continue to be successful in her Test Night which will make future stays be an even better experience for her 😊.

I really feel so lucky and grateful to do what I love!
Meeting new puppy families who have brought home a furry little one, seeking guidance, wanting to know the best ways to help nurture their new family addition and are ready and open to take on the right, positive, kind advice.

Little Kosci is a Speagle and has landed well and truely in his feet in a super loving, great home. Having very recently arrived, Kosci and family reached out, wanting the best start. Everyone and Kosci totally rocked their New Puppy Consultation and put some of their concerns to rest!

😍😍 Charlie - what a clever cutie you are 😍😍
I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie & her family as they reached out to help her with a few behaviours that have been causing some concern.

We all understand that a lot of behaviours our beautiful dogs display can be very normal. So many factors contribute to what we see them do.

Establishing good habits, meeting their needs, management and having realistic expectations can have a situation change to a win-win!

We focused on
- Building a reliable recall
- Incorporating daily enrichment
- Preventing rehearsals where an undesirable behaviour can keep occurring and in turn get strongly reinforced
- Alternatives to jumping up
- And begin changing Charlie’s associations to certain things around the home that trigger her

I got to catch up with this super pup and her super hooman today. Polly is a Puppy Class graduate and is getting her books in order as she’ll be attending Manners Class soon.

My visit today focused on strengthening what her family has been reinforcing - TRAINING SHOULD NOT STOP AFTER PUPPY CLASS! - teaching a few new skills to help Polly with her impulse control, settling & preventing undesirable (but very common!) behaviours such as jumping up and barking.

I was BLOWN AWAY with this little one! She was ON THE MARK with understanding the skills, that we were able to add on advanced levels. Go Polly and her hooman!

What a cool little dude 😍😍 this boy is! Very much enjoyed meeting Odie and helping his family with his training.
Odie has an older ‘sister’ who came to Manners Class in the past.
My visit mainly focused on Odie and helping his family manage a multi dog home, provide appropriate outlets for Odie (and his fur sister), work on impulse control, management and ways to build independence.

He’s a quick learner. At times, it felt like he was training us humans!! Well done Odie and family.

Meet Patrick! And Oliver!
Patrick is a young, sweet Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who is very worried about other dogs. He struggles when they are nearby and has developed reactivity as a way to cope and have them give him space.

His very dedicated family have reached out to help Patrick and are undergoing a Private Program. Very pleased to report, Patrick did so well in his first session.

Tiffany is a young 6 month old West Highland White Terrier who recently found her forever home. She’s a dear little girl who, with her family’s support, can start to find this human world a little less scary. She’s adapted to family life with her pawrents so very well and also has an older brother who she adores! He is also a West Highland White Terrier.

With a training plan in place, setting her up for success, using management and understanding her emotions through her body language, Tiffany can begin to feel safer and in turn cope better with her triggers.

Ohhh be still my heart 💓 Little Tosh has recently found her forever home with a very loving and caring family. She is such a sweetheart, very affectionate and incredibly keen to learn!
She totally 💯 nailed her private session and what was equally important, she had a blast doing it!

Meet Whiskey folks! She’s a 12 month old Aussie Shepherd cross Border Collie mix. Her family reached out to help their sweet girl in a few areas - predominantly her nervousness to unfamiliar people, barking and recalling training.

Whiskey had her first session of her Private Program and her and her family did really well ☺️

We will be working on building positive associations to what’s scary to change them to not so scary, teaching alternative behaviours to help improve some unwanted behaviours - another way to put it would be giving her another job/s to replace unwanted said behaviours, recall training and confidence building!

She’s a smart cookie Miss Whiskey and I’m excited to see her progress 😊

I got to catch up with Freddy and his family recently, to help him learn to disengage and not be on patrol duties as much. Freddy did very well to not sound the alarm to some of his triggers and also learn to switch off.

Barking is a normal behaviour in dogs, used for communication. However can become a problematic behaviour in the home.

So with a bit of tweaking to Freddy's routine, adding management to prevent rehearsals of unwanted behaviours, pairing his triggers to be a positive for Freddy & teaching alternative behaviours, Freddy's situation already saw improvement.

Today we are delighted to welcome Ivy, a relative of Ripley She is currently in Puppy Class with her lovely family and is here with us for a Test Night in our Bed & Better Behaviour service.
We will be working on crate training, independence training, positive socialisation, toilet training & supporting her with her current skills from class.

Sweet little Poppy recently completed her Private Program. Poppy unfortunately has had a few negative experiences from dogs who have rushed at her, bullying her, causing her to be quite worried and in turn building high levels of stress to both her and her guardian.

Giving Poppy the skills to help her cope and change her emotions of what previously caused her to be a fearful pup, to one of confidence and feeling much safer, Poppy is now enjoying her outings so much more! Her guardian is also feeling better and more confident with being well equipped with strategies to manage situations, loose dogs and advocating for Poppy.

I had the pleasure to work with Arwen and Arthur and their hoomans a few weeks back. Their main concern was resource guarding, particularly around food.
This is a normal behaviour in dogs, however this behaviour can escalate and cause serious problems.
Luckily, these two awesome Corgis have wonderful, proactive and understanding pawrents.
Very pleased to report Arwen and Arthur are doing wonderful, no aggression or concerns. Both dogs and pawrents are happy. So proud of this family!

Harvey is my name 😁 I’m a 13 week old Fabulous Toy Cavoodle boy. I recently graduated from Puppy Preschool My family and I wanted to stay on track with my awesomeness and look into preventing small problems developing into BIG ones so came for a Private Consultation.
Well, I was amazing I must say and my trainer, Carolina agrees! 😁

We had the pleasure of Murphy’s company in his Test Night here in our Bed & Better Behaviour service.
