COMMUNITY GARDEN DISCUSSION

When: Sunday 16th April

Where: TOK (park end corner of Marks & Summerfield St)

Time: 4pm

Hi everyone, this coming Sunday we plan on having a casual get-together to have a chat about the Community Garden going forward. Bring along any questions and thoughts you may have on the plan for the space before we take it back to council.

Bring a chair if you wish as we no longer have a community seating area. 🙄😬

P.S. A reminder that the Landcare tree planting is happening this coming Saturday afternoon at the opposite end of Summerfield Street (over the bridge).

Since this working be we have met with council to discuss the future of the Hermit Park Veggie Patch, it's looking good. The council is supportive. We need to satisfy their concerns around safety, especially in prepration for the cyclone season. But overall the meeting was positive and we thank all those that have signed our petition to show support and the support letters that have been written by communtiy members.

Busy working bees...
The garden has been fertilised, the beds have been hayes up and composted. We planted some pumpkin, zucchini and more greens!

We have asked council for a tap and this is the process that is needed for council to endorse the garden with a tap.

THE NEXT STEP
- We need to create a petition to show the community's support for the space
- Some how become incorporated or be auspiced by an already incorporated group

What are your thoughts?
Overall Liam has been supportive and has offered his guidence through this process, we have also been provided contact details of a community engagment officer at council that is in support.

Remember pick from the base of the stem the biggest leaf of the bunch....

Hunt for those cucumbers and the eggplants to!
The tomatoes should be ready in about 2 weeks...

Lemon Balm!! 😘🌿
A pollinator attracting herb 🐝🦎and edible!
We have this in the veggie patch on the left next to the chard and spring onion!
We will mark it tomorrow, it's flourishing and wouldn't bmind a hair cut... Please remember to grab from the base of each stem.

June is upon us, as the garden becomes established and the weather is cooling, watering only needs to be once a day, prefereable in the morning... but when it is possible is also all good!

If there is a permanent day that you can committ to that would be great!

The IBC will be filled on Wednesday and there is talk of a tap from the contractor's water lines at the back.

The Pak Choi and Chinese kale are ready!
Please take the whole Pak choi and pick the leaves from the base of the leaf stem... We will clear this bed, add compost and plant again!
