Our doggy’s feel the heat, especially during this weather!
Tips to keep our furry friends safe throughout this long weekends heatwave

Heatstroke symptoms
- Excessive panting
- discoloured gums
- Mobility issues
- Thick saliva, vomiting or diarrhoea
- Lethargic

Heat stroke in dogs is serious! seek emergency veterinary care if you think your dog is suffering from heat stroke.
Some dogs are more at risk, short nosed dogs, long haired dogs, elderly dogs and puppies should be monitored.

Absolutely never leave your dog in the car, even if it is a few minutes!

Ensure clean and cool water is available at all times

Ensure they have access to shade, or ideally to be inside

Walks; If the ground is too hot to touch with the back of your hand, it’s absolutely too hot for your dogs feet. Our doggies do love walks, but ensure it’s appropriate to do so. The early ams and late pms are the safest times if absolutely necessary.

Look after yourselves, and your pups!
Leave water around your gardens for our wildlife, we are all feeling the heat ☀️

Today we said goodbye to our beautiful Pooky. she gave us 14 years of laughter and love. Such a special and unique dog, there will never be another like her. She was funny, ditzy and the most loyal dog. The best dog we could ask for, she is irreplaceable.

We want to thank Dr. Nico Maritz at Animal Aid Coldstream vet clinic. He showed Pooky so much love, gave so much care and went above and beyond to diagnose and keep her comfortable and happy during her sickness. A vet we can highly recommend. Not only do we love him, but Pooky adored him. It is so important for a dog to trust and love a vet, we are so lucky she had Dr. Nico. 🤍
