( Read this before adopting/rescuing/fostering cats and dogs)

(They cannot have cow milk as they are lactose intolerant. Buy milk replacer OR dilute normal cow milk (powder best) with water in the ratio 50/50. Meaning normal milk half and half water mix)
** IT IS BEST TO KEEP KITTENS AND PUPPIES TILL THEY ARE 2 MONTHS OLD OR AT LEAST 1.5 MONTHS OLD WITH THEIR MOTHER**
Do not feed cat food to cats as it contains ingredients that makes your cat sick. Yes I know they feed cat food all around the world but it doesn't change the fact that it is harmful for cats. Feed HUMAN FOOD.
Do not feed bones/fishbones to cats and dogs . You may feed bones to dogs occasionally - store bought ones are the best. Bones and fish bones can cause injury and many go through surgery to remove it. As well as injections are pushed in the bones of chickens.
Cats need more of a protein based diet. Less carb.
Please make sure your cats/dogs are not diabetic and so control diet that way.
Probiotic soup is good for both cats/dogs called Pet Me Lite . It is healthy .
Water is essential for both cats and dogs and should be given as kidney diseases are common and in Bangladesh, there is no dialysis process for them yet. If you give them boiled water- do not give tap water as they will get sick and die - we saw a case like that.
Vaccination: Do not vaccinate cats/dogs before the age of 3 months. It will harm the immunity.
Make sure the vaccinations are authentic. Expired/fake ones can cause harm.
If vomiting occurs more than two times, please do not take it lightly-consult vet.
Please make sure the cat does not have extreme diarrhea or diarrhea more than a day - consult vet!!
Please give your cat/dog vaccinations every year because flu can kill your animal . NEVER MISS VACCINATIONS.
Check seals for the vaccinations and keep the vaccination card in a safe place.
Do not give vaccination to a sick animal as it drops it's immmunity more and can make it more sick.
Neuter/spay:
DO NOT SPAY/NEUTER CATS AND DOGS EARLY AS THERE IS A RISK OF CANCER WITH IT AND ALSO OTHER SERIOUS HEALTH COMPLICATIONS. IDEAL IS AFTER 7 MONTHS MINIMUM AND AFTER SEXUAL MATURITY- YOU CAN SPOT HEAT OR SPRAYING TO INDICATE MATURITY.
Please keep the area clean as it can cause infections after neuter.
You can make a e-collar with a paper plate to avoid cat/dog from scratching or just buy an e collar.
Wait at least 2 months after birth till you spay a mother dog/cat.
Do not feed the cat/dog anything for 8 hours before surgery (neuter/spay or any surgery) because water/food can cause it to choke due to anesthesia.
You should spay/neuter because it increases dog/cat's live span as well as prevents cancer . Also they will be happier in mood and won't travel far and get into accidents or fight with other animals.
HOUSING:
you SHOULD ALWAYS CAT PROOF EVERY SINGLE WINDOW/VERANDA AS CATS DO DIE IF THEY FALL.
** Cats do not have 9 lives. IT IS FALSE**
You should take a harness and walk your cat/dog once a day atleast to boost their immunity and mental health but do not let it out by itself as it will always try to leave on it's own then.
If you have a cat house, try to spray catnip so that it will use the house more. You can also spray it on toys to make them interested to play with them.
Litter:
Always keep number of cat+1 more litter box. If you have one cat- you should have have two litter boxes. If you have 2 cats- you should have three litter boxes.
Make sure the litter boxes are wide and deep enough.
If your cat p*es on pillows/bed covers/walls/floor- neuter the cat/dog.The behaviour will be fixed in a month or two. Make sure to put vinegar on the spots they p*ed to remove smell. If they still do it, remove them from areas they p*e and keep them away from those areas for a few months or keep an eye on them and say "no" when they try to do it. They will soon forget their bad habit. Also some dogs/cats p*e for kidney/urine problems so make sure their urine quantity/colour/ whether it is foamy or normal/too many times or too few times p*eing- consult vet if not normal. They will give medicines and it will fix their problem.
** Make sure to use soap and then vinegar as vinegar eliminates the smell of urine unlike anything. On top of vinegar- you can use baking soda for extra ++**
** DO NOT THROW AWAY DOGS/CATS DUE TO PEEING PROBLEMS AS THEY HAVE SOLUTIONS. ALSO GIVE IT FOR ADOPTION BUT DO NOT THROW AWAY THEM ON THE STREETS AS THEY LOOSE THEIR SURVIVAL SKILLS TO LIVE ON STREETS. Suppose you live in a 8 floor building and then one day you go to a village after a long time- you will have food poisoning and etc and will fall sick/ die - if not treated. They cannot survive on streets after being at home- they are home dogs/cats now and they will die on streets as they cannot fight/ cannot have food they will find on streets/ cannot cross roads/will catch cold-infections.
Dogs have heart worms from mosquito bites. These are worms in the heart and they breed and grow. You can find that out through blood test and should treat it as soon as possible.
Yearly blood tests should be done to avoid any serious disease .

A. Do not give them fish . Feed them saline/chicken soup/rice only. if they are not willing to have, force feed with a syringe . ** Force feed in small amounts with a syringe/dropper as it can do into their nasal path or cause them to have breathing or choking problem. Slowly but you have to. **
Q. What to do if my cat fell from my veranda/window?
A. TAKE IT TO THE VET WITHIN 30 MINS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE . IF YOU ARE LATE- STILL TRY BUT TRY WITHIN 30MINS TO 1 HOUR. They will give injections to stop internal bleeding. You can never see or understand if a cat/dog is having internal bleeding as not all dogs/cats vomit . No you cannot call a vet home as normally vets do not have that injection with them. Please call the vet while you are going to the vet so that they can prepare for the treatment. Surgeries are also done in few cases to stop bleeding. If you cannot then atleast call a vet home as soon as possible and try to tie the area with a cloth to stop bleeding inside- watch youtube.

A: Give IV saline to your dog TWICE a day for atleast 4-5 days . Do not give any solid food for 4-5 days- only saline and rice saline. Force feed saline with syringe as the dog/puppy will not have it by itself or won't have enough by itself. Saline must be given as much as possible - every 15 mins to 30 mins to ensure complete recovery . Keep the dog/puppy in warm place . Use room heaters or sacks and warm coils or warm water bottles around the puppy/dog. Parvo is DEADLY AND 9/10 PUPPIES DIE BUT IF YOU FOLLOW THIS- 9/10 WILL SURVIVE! .
Q: How to spot parvo?
A: bloody diarrhea/ different colour diarrhea or not having any food
Q: Where to get IV treatment?
A: You can ask dressers to come to your place. We know a dresser who can help you give IV but always seek vet consultation as the vet will prescribe antibiotics and medicines to stop diarrhea .
Q: why do dogs die out of parvo?
A: because of dehydration due to diarrhea and also shock due to chance of dropping of body temperature so keep it hydrated and warm! and vaccinate when it gets well. It is contagious only to other dogs- SO do not touch other dogs when you are dealing with dogs/puppies with parvo. The other dogs/puppies might have it so keep an eye those are near this parvo dog.

A: play with it as much as possible. Learn acupressure for dogs and physiotherapy for dogs on YouTube. Keep telling it that it will walk again. A body frame with wheels - with supervision as accidents can happen and only in closed safe environments frames can be used- it keeps backbone straight and without it's backbone being straight, it will have their nerves dying off slowly.
