Protecting your pet from worms is essential to their long-term health. Over time, pets with untreated intestinal worms can suffer from protein loss, anemia, and other complications. If your pet is infected with worms, you may notice lethargy, weight loss, vomiting, and other symptoms. However, not all infestations cause symptoms.

There are several types of worms that can infect pets – and some of them can even affect humans too. Making regular veterinary examinations are essential, to ensure and prevent any health problems associated with worm for both your pets and family.

Chai got his head injured while chasing a lizard in his house compound.

Fortunately, Chai was a good boy, he let his owners to clean his wound without being aggressive.

Kudos to his owners for doing a great job in cleaning his wound to prevent maggots infestation, before they reached out to us few days after the incident.

He had to be brought in to surgery due to the extensive deep wound. We stitched the wound and now he is back to his playful self!

Hansom encountered a snake attacked on 2/11/22. Fortunately, he wasn’t bitten by the snake. However during the fight, the snake venom got into his left eye. Resulting his left eye to swell. He was then brought to the clinic immediately, and luckily there was no big issue. After his treatment and being monitored in the clinic, he is now back to his happy and healthy life!

Here is what to do during snake encounter with your pets.

1. Bring to the nearest vet ASAP.
2. Keep calm. Pets can sense their owner’s panic which can cause them stress. An increase in stress level may cause the venom to circulate faster in the body.

" Chocolate had an existing wound that had been infested with aggressive maggots in a mere couple of days, she became aggressive from the pain/irritation and would hide from the owner. The owner had no choice so she contacted us to help with catching her.

She was then brought to the clinic where we took a few hours of cleaning and dressing her wound. She required hospitalization with daily treatment for a week and finally discharged with great aftercare provided by the owner, she is finally almost fully recovered.

Note : An open wound on a pet staying outside can quickly become infested with maggots, which can be easily missed even to the most attentive owner as their pet's fur can cover the wound making it hard to see and they could also hide away/stay under the cars due to the pain."

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), “Distemper is often FATAL, and dogs that survive usually have permanent, irreparable nervous system damage.”

Distemper dogs experience two stages;

STAGE ONE

The first symptom of distemper in dogs is usually watery to pus-like discharge from his eyes, followed by fever, loss of appetite, and clear nasal discharge. Most dogs develop a fever approximately 3-to-6 days after being infected. In general, the symptoms associated with distemper in dogs during the first stages of infection are:

• Fever
• Clear nasal discharge
• Purulent eye discharge
• Lethargy
• Anorexia
• Coughing
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Hyperkeratosis of the paws pads and nose

STAGE TWO

Some dogs develop neurological signs as the disease progresses and attacks the central nervous system. These signs are particularly disturbing for owners.

• Head tilt
• Circling
• Partial or full paralysis
• Seizures
• Nystagmus (repetitive eye movements)
• Muscle twitching
• Convulsions with increased salivation and chewing motions
• Death

There is NO CURE for Canine Distemper but it’s entirely preventable by make sure your dog gets full series of distemper VACCINATION.

Dental disease affects the teeth, gums and structures that support and surround your fur baby’s teeth. It begins with plaque buildup on the teeth.Bacteria in the plaque can enter the bloodstream and spread to the heart, kidneys and liver which can damage organs and make your pets quite sick.

Plaque that stays on the teeth hardens into tartar. Tartar below the gumline causes inflammation and not only damages the structures supporting the teeth but also causes infection. When dental disease reaches this stage, they can experience serious dental problems and pain.

Here are a few things you can do at home to help maintain your healthy fur baby’s teeth:

✅ Brush your pets teeth use a safe dog/cat toothpaste
✅ Give dental treats
✅ Provide dental toys

Notoedric mange commonly called as feline scabies is a rare, but highly contagious disease of cats and kittens caused by Notoedres cati, which can infest other animals including humans. This disease often affects cats that living outdoor or with many other cats in certain urban areas.

The first sign of notoedric mange is usually intense itchiness along with hair loss and a crusty and scabby appearance to the skin, especially along the tip of the ears. It then progresses to the face and neck, and if untreated can progress to other parts of the body particularly the feet.

As this disease can be spread to humans it is highly recommended to seek veterinary medical attention to address your pets problem before it becomes more severe to both pets and owners.
