National Cat Health Month | FIP

Today we're sharing some information about FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis).

FIP is a viral disease that is caused by certain strains of a virus called the feline coronavirus. In some cases, FeCV (Feline Enteric Coronavirus) mutates during an infection, becoming FIPV.

For many years, FIP was considered fatal once clinical signs developed; however, that has changed with the development of new trials and treatments that are currently working towards FDA approval.

Learn more about Luna, who was cured by one of those trials, at https://everycat.org/how-luna-became-the-first-cat-cured-of-feline-infectious-peritonitis-in-2017/

Following adult cats are up for Adoption. There are adoption fees which varies on which cat you are looking to adopt. I am located on Isle Madame in Cape Breton.

EMAIL ME at [email protected] if you are interested in any of these cats. Please let me know about your family and if you have any other animals in your home.

1. Coconut - Newfoundland Residents only. This beauiful girl is one of Pepper and Oscars babies. Currently living in Torby, NL. She will need a stress free home so no kids or other animals due to feline idiopathic cystitis condition(not a life threating condition). Fully vaccinated and such a sweet girl.

2. Oscar - Nova Scotia/PEI/NB Residents only. He was born July 8th, 2018 and currently living with my family on Isle Madame. Seal Mitted boy with a blaze on his nose. Looking to home him with no other cats. He loves his Temptation cat treats and cat nip. He can be a bit shy but loves to be petted and will walk around your feet until you give him treats. Ready to go anytime. DNA and Blood work done and last vaccination was in 2022.
Adoption fee is $450

*We do not fly our Adult cats.
*Please keep in mind these are INDOOR cats only.
*We have a strict 'no declaw' policy. As of March 2018, it is illegal in Nova Scotia for any vet to perform medically unnecessary cat declawing.
*Ragdolls require lots of time with their people and don't like to be left alone for long hours. So, If you work really long hours or have a very busy family with Team sports and other activities that leaves you little time home then please consider adopting another breed of cat.
*If someone in your home has cat allergies then a Ragdoll cat may not be right for you. Although Ragdolls tend not to shed as much as other long-haired cats, they still do shed. Allergic responses are still possible.
