Our daughters’ dream came true the day we brought Angie🐶 into our lives. We had no idea how much love❤️ and joy she’d bring to our family👨‍👩‍👧‍👧—and now we can’t imagine our lives without her!

Most pet rescues can be pretty picky about the approval process (which, in the end, is what we want, right? Pets deserve to have a safe and loving home!).

So, if you want to make sure that a given rescue sees you as a responsible match for their beloved pets, there are a few tips you should follow:

1️⃣ Do research on the breed. Rescue employees will want to make sure that you are knowledgeable about the kind of dog or cat you want to bring home with you.

2️⃣ Prepare your home for pets. Fence your yard, put away dangerous or sharp objects that your new pet could get access to, all of that good stuff!

3️⃣ Ask lots of questions. Do this not only to show the rescue org that you are invested and prepared, but also to ensure that you’re learning all you can in preparation of this new journey.

Did you know…
..that research shows that black (or darker) dogs and cats are more likely to be overlooked and stay in a shelter longer than their light-colored counterparts? In fact, in the pet care industry this is referred to as “Black Dog Syndrome.”

It’s not clear as to why this is the case, but most shelter and rescue workers swear on it.

What can we do about this? Adopt more black pets, of course! And encourage our friends and family to do the same. They’re just as sweet, lovable, and clean as any other pet, we promise! ❤️ 🐾

Before you start the official search, there are a few things you should know about the benefits of adoption. Check ‘em out:

1️⃣ Adoption saves lives! Every year 2.7 million cats and dogs are euthanized in the U.S. Adopting helps reduce this number drastically!

2️⃣ Adoption ensures that you’re not supporting the unethical operations of puppy mills. If we stop giving them money, they can’t survive!

3️⃣ You’ve probably heard this one before, but it’s so true!) Adopting one dog actually helps save another. When you take a dog out of a shelter and into your forever home, it opens up a space for another shelter dog to do the same!

4️⃣ You save TONS of money in the end. Most shelters cover the cost of all pets being vaccinated and neutered/spayed.
..We don’t know about you guys, but it sounds like a done deal to us! 😉

Forget what you heard! Here are the facts:

1️⃣ Adoption can take a lot of time and effort. Shelters want to make sure that they’re finding the perfect match for each and every furry friend!

2️⃣ Adult dogs are fantastic companions. If you wanna skip the messy puppy stage, an adult dog might be a great choice for you!

3️⃣ Most shelter dogs have already been neutered or spayed. You know what that means...less work and less money spent on your end!

4️⃣ Not all shelter dogs are damaged. A lot of the time, dogs end up in shelters because they didn’t fit in with their previous owner’s lifestyle, not because they’re “problematic”!

5️⃣ There’s a good chance your rescue dog may already be house trained. Um, heck yes!
