Cesar demonstrates how to respectfully move in to take an item away from a dog in a primal fashion. I like to teach my dogs "leave it" but I also snap my fingers and move in & expect them to get up and leave it. Notice how quiet this approach is. This is a great video in which Cesar demonstrates how to claim back an item that your dog has in its mouth. This is a very primal activity. Notice how quiet it is! There is no talking, just the Shhht sound Cesar makes for correction.

This is a great explanation of dog personality traits and their natural tendencies. I had a pack of three that helped me rehab other dogs for 12 years. Dango was a front of the pack dog, Buddy was the middle of pack and Jerry was back of the pack. That is why they worked so well together with myself as leader.

This is our current home pack. Hank (my Dobbie/ Shepherd who is 5 years old) & Sheila's dogs = Winston ( 3 year old Chi / we**ie / rat terrier) and Lilly (11 year old Yorkie) who belonged to Sheila's mom and now lives with us. They love hanging out together.

After 16 years of service, rehabbing, caring for and balancing dogs for my clients, I have decided to close my doors to new clients.
I still board dogs for my regular clients but I have moved on from training and daycare.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of my loyal clients. I have sincerely enjoyed every second with your dogs and with your friendship. My love of dogs runs very deep and I'm still trying to figure out how to pass on my education that all the dogs who have come through my doors taught me, to new dog owners so they can help their dogs also.
My own home pack will forever be honored in everything I teach. The years I spent with them will live in my heart and within all the dogs they helped balance.

I love bringing dogs to balance by allowing them to be instinctual. My dogs are taught to howl on command. This morning a situation occurred that was perfect for a pack howl. Wolves howl to claim territory & to call their own pack together. Dogs howl to call the pack together. It is a way to solidify their bonded relationship.

My roommate Sheila left to care for her sick mom at 7:30am this morning. I could see my dogs were concerned with this break from normalcy. So I lead the howl to make them feel better & bond us as a pack.

It has been very cold & snowy for a few days now. (-12C with windchill of -20C) The dogs only go outside to potty. (Feet freeze in snow below -7C). So....what to do with 8 dogs (some under 3 years old & high energy breeds)

Dogs get 20 min of organized (rules =obedience) exercise each, usually in pairs to drain energy + calm minds. Dogs are hard wired to follow rules in a pack. It how they live with peace. The packleader facilitates and directs them so everyone gets what they need.

Dogs that get what they need through leadership & exercise are calm & well behaved.

This is Sophie - the 4 year old Keeshond & Charlie - 1 year old Boston Terrier taking organized turns with their balls here. Dogs are taught to run when their names are called & stick to their own toy. This avoids arguments over balls & makes them equal in the pack.
These two dogs are very good at it. They are both high energy breeds. I ask for a sit if I see them getting too high on adrenaline. It teaches them to keep their mind in a controlled working disciplined state. Excitement is dangerous when dogs are not mentally disciplined to obey. (Which is why dog parks can be dangerous places).

Grateful Stride has reached the end of an Era today. We said Good Bye to the best pack dog and manager that I have ever met. Buddy passed away peacefully today at 14.5 years old.

I met Buddy (and Sheila) when he was 1 year old. Buddy was the first male dog that Dango ever met that he didn't want to alpha roll. Buddy was the most socially intelligent dog that I have ever met. He always knew just how much pressure to put on a dog or when to back off. He taught me soooo much about how to use the right timing and energy. Together, we rehabbed and entertained many dogs. Buddy is loved by all the puppies that have grown up in my pack because he loved to show puppies the ropes. He always walked at the back of the pack to make sure nobody every got left behind.

WE ALL LOVE YOU BUDDY BEAR. We will miss you greatly and see you again when we pass over to spirit.

Yes I play with my 1.5 year old Doberman/ German Shepherd Hank, in a snow & ice storm. He needs his exercise & loves to slide on ice 🤪.

Playing with other dogs especially puppies who play with adult dogs is very important. They learn respectful interaction and how to bond with another dog. I am always monitoring so I can teach rules and boundaries.

Duke is 1.8 years old now and teaching me new things daily. 6 weeks ago, Duke became a special needs dog. He started having Grand Mal seizure clusters three weeks after his 1 year rabies booster shot. Some dogs are just too sensitive. Duke will never have another vaccine. He will be exempt with a vet note due to being prone to seizures. Duke has been on Phenobarbital and Melatonin for 2 weeks and the seizures are under control for now. He must start taking thyroid medication in another week, it may be the reason the seizures started in the first place. I must get it balanced. The journey continues....

This picture was taken this morning June 21st 2016he he in the car. Buddy (border collie/husky) is now 11 years old and Jerry who will be 9 years old in August have helped to raise Duke. There is no substitute for a balance pack of older dogs when raising a pup. He has matured much faster then most pups his age and is pretty advanced in social behavior. I cherish Buddy and Jerry's input especially when I see Dango's influence in it. It warms my heart and make me feel like Duke will benefit from Dango's amazing character even though he is now an angel.

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY DUKE NOODLE.!!!! We rented a 50 acres farmhouse for a few days. Duke was on his e-collar for recall and behaved very well. He ran top speed for about 3 hours today. We walked the entire property. The farm is only 1 hour away from home so we drove home to sleep and watch our PVR shows. Tomorrow, I will take photos. My little skinny hound dog was born a year ago today..

I adopted Dango 7 years ago as a 4 month old pup. I obedience trained him but as he grew into an adult he began to boss me around / and other dogs that came near us. I searched for a way to win him over and gain his willing obedience and I found Cesar's Way. I joined his online yahoo group and asked for help. I was able to use dog psychology to cure Dango's dog aggression and re-build my relationship with him as his LEADER. I started a pack leader play group to re-socialize Dango the right way. Two years after Dango's rehabilitation, I started my pet sitting business and now Dango helps me rehab other dogs with problems. I still log onto Friends of the Dog Whisperer yahoo group to give advice to new comers and help others as they helped me when I needed it. Cesar came to Canada ( fall 2010) and I was asked to act as his ambassador backstage at his LIVE show in Hamilton, ON. It was an amazing experience to meet my mentor. He is instinctual, spiritual and balanced as well as being a great human being. I watched him work with the 10 dogs backstage to choose 3 for an onstage appearance. Cesar is the real deal. He is exactly what he presents himself to be. The moment he takes a dogs leash, it feels his calm balanced energy and begins to give respect / trust. I hope I can use my knowledge to continue to help humans and dogs repair and enhance their relationships, just as Cesar has.
