The Deal on Seal: We introduced Seal Oil a few months ago and it has been a HUGE hit for our canine and feline customers, it’s given some older pets more spring in their steps, better coats, skin, and it is a favourite amongst owners interested in preventing these types of issues in their pets later in life.

Seal oil is one of the best sources of Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) for pets. As the name implies, EFAs are essential to our pets (and our) diets and even though they are found in every cell in the human body they must be consumed through food or supplements. Seals are mammals, just like humans (and dogs and cats). Because of this, the exact chemical structure of the Omega-3s found in seal oil are easily recognized, digested, and absorbed by other mammals, superior to fish and plant based oils. EFAs play an important role in skin and joint health, helping improve skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis, allergies, psoriasis and dry skin as well as arthritis and inflammation from injuries and joint pain. They are also critical to brain development and ongoing health, DHA, found in seal oil, makes up more than 90 percent of the long-chain Poly Unsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFAs) found in the brain. For this reason, puppies started on Omega-3s at a young age have developed better memory, attention and trainability (PLUS they still get all the other benefits of seal oil!).
