If you are driving by and see the tables empty, that’s because I brought the rest of our stuff in the bus after the morning rush, we have no canopy on the bus right now and can’t have stuff sitting in the sun :)

Harvest is well underway for Friday folks!

First time in Fogarty’s history we are serving up frost touched veggies!

The cold weather is actually a huge benefit for most of the crops we are growing this time of year. Our carrots, kale and spinach in particular develop a lot of sweetness from the cooler temps.

Hakurie turnips are making a return and NEW for this season is watermelon radishes! Huge quantities of lettuce mix!

With the delay from gremlin hunting the bus renovations are not complete, projects like building an exit ramp need to be built safely, robust and certainly not rushed. Hopefully the upgrades will near completion for next week 😀

If you haven’t had fresh, cold harvested vegetables then you definitely don’t want to miss out on this gorgeous harvest this week!

Hey folks!

Hoping everyone had a good Thanksgiving week with friends and family.

We are now officially into our fall/ winter crops. I am going to be cutting our market down to FRIDAY’S ONLY for the rest of the season.

This has been a huge year for Fogarty’s thus far, we are approaching 5 months of produce sales and there is no clear end in sight. 😀

What I do know….? This is a trial run into uncharted territory, we have a massive amount of greenhouse space with heavy amounts of crops. How fast they rebound after harvesting in the cold and low light growing conditions is yet to be seen.

A lot has been learned this year, there has been a lot of big successes and of course some failures. We are still settling into an equilibrium, when you are pushing the boundaries and your company and farming techniques is ever evolving it can be very challenging.

I would like to do a video in the near future looking back on this year’s farming season, it might shed some light into this crazy world and the challenges that it presents. What was learned through failure, what was a major success and of course…… what is planned for 2025!

Food insecurity has been a passion of mine for many years. Over ten years ago, I started 4 non-profit volunteer Farm Markets in HRM to increase access to fresh, locally grown food. I am honoured to have support from Fogarty's Market Garden to become the next Mayor of HRM!

So, I like to think I watch the weather closer than the average Joe. I had no idea we were getting a potential major wind storm tomorrow 😡.

I am starting to slowly pack up for today, what an amazing morning, very busy but yet spaced out so It didn’t get overwhelming at once. Thank you all for supporting local!

I have a lot of work to do, all greenhouses need to be stitched up tight with wiggle wire and the doors sealed shut to weather this wind.

WE WON’T BE OPEN TOMORROW unfortunately. Better safe than sorry……wind and greenhouses is not something I mess around with.

Closed Friday Unfortunately. But we will have a very large harvest for Saturday 💪

Hey folks! A little update! We won’t be open tomorrow unfortunately. We are in a little bit of a rotational gap for a few crops this week and therefore I will be bringing all this weeks harvest on Saturday only, and it’s a lot!! Just a reminder, Fogarty’s is a farm,,,,,,, I am a grower, not a reseller and our vegetables make that very apparent. This is very challenging stuff and there will always be variance in variety and unfortunately there will always be a few markets that get dropped in a season. The longer I farm, the better I get and we can shrink these slight inconsistencies, the good news…. we have already grown and distributed well over a ton of vegetables in the last 5 weeks. See you Saturday!🧑‍🌾💪

Bee Party!!! So…..we like to make fun and silly videos, full disclosure, bees are certainly not for everyone, these are pretty serious creatures and I would highly recommend NOT getting them if you don’t have the fauna to support honey bees. You could actually do environmental damage and hurt your local bee population. Getting honey bees is certainly not going to “save the bees” if the local bird population was in trouble do you think getting chickens would help?😂 These are domesticated creatures…… when both Jillian and I have time I would like to do an actual “serious” video about the bees without the “sh*ts and giggles”, there is a lot of misconceptions about keeping bees🐝 🐝 🐝

Welcome to FMG!!!!!!! Fogarty’s is an Urban Market Garden in HRM! Our goal is to offer an abundance of locally and holistically grown produce at a price that can’t be beat.

This is the first year opening our doors for vegetable transplants and fruit tree sales. We have thousands of heritage, organic and hybrid varieties of vegetable transplants as well as fruit trees and shrubs by the hundreds.

Produce sales will not begin until the 2021 growing season as 2020 is going to be solely a trial season for testing and perfecting our growing and harvesting practices.

You will notice we do not have our address posted on our site, that is because we are not open for on site sales, we deliver to your door! Give us a call and see the value we have to offer!
