Please Note: As of Mar 31, 2023, we will no longer be grooming cats at Lavender. If you would like your cat groomed before then, please book that appointment now as there is limited space!

Exciting News!
Terrie is very excited to announce that she is turning over the grooming business to her daughter, Beth, as of April 1, 2023.

Terrie and her husband are relocating to the Central Coast!

Beth has grown up in the grooming shop and has been grooming full-time, alongside Terrie, for 2 and a half years now. She knows all of our lavender clients and is excited to continue grooming!

There will be changes over the next couple of months as we make the transition. We appreciate if everyone can be patient and understanding in the coming months! We will be making announcements via our FB page and the website as things come up.

The first change is that Lavender will no longer be grooming cats (as if April 1) :( It's a 2 person job for us to groom cats the way we do it, and with Terrie leaving, it won't be possible to continue.

Cheeze and Crackerz came in for a much needed clean up! It always amazes me how some kittens just naturally take care of their grooming needs and some are like messy toddlers! Lol. These two boys are just the sweetest, most amazing little men!

Cheeka is a wee little old lady. Shes not a fan of grooming these days, so we do as much as she can tolerate as quickly as possible. I think her favorite part is laying down on a towel while we blow dryer with the warm fluff dryer.

Competative Grooming

I have dabbled in competitive grooming a few times over the last few years. This year, for the first time... I placed. Well - we placed. I let one of my best friends convince me to join her in a dual competition where two groomers work together on one dog. I have battled with nerves each and every time I have entered the ring in the past. I have repeatedly made her promise not to let me enter again the next year... and she never listens!

This year, she was eager to enter and needed a partner. I agreed because that's what besties do, right!? Imagine my surprise when we placed second! I looked around that ring in amazement... I was surrounded by world class groomers. Some of the competitors are (or had been in the past) members of Groom Team Canada. I have a hard time believing I'm anywhere near as talented!

Now, don't get me wrong! I enjoy what I do for a living. I work hard to keep learning and growing and improving as a groomer. I can't imagine doing anything else for a living. However, I do not see myself in the same class as the groomers that were in the ring around me. I'm not sure I ever will.

So... the question is... will I do it again next year? I will keep telling my friend to never let me do it again. I'm sure I will be a bundle of nerves and stress when she doesn't listen!
