Down on the farm!

I got several ton of fill recently! Mega Mega tons of fill and using it to make changes to keep pasture #1 relatively dry from the brook overflowing. every spring, winter and fall. Also using it in the back pasture to fill in low areas and make the runoff flow back into the pond.

We hosted 6 young men from Highland Community Residential Services in the 19+ summer program last Thursday. They learned about how horses communicate, how to walk with horses, pressure and release and most importantly safety around horses.

Today, we were presented with a beautiful card signed buy all of clients in the program.

It’s -12°C in this picture taken at 4:30pm. Temps are going down to almost -30° tonight with a windchill of -44°.

The gang is out 24/7 and their coats are nice and thick (in spite of the cold seasonable warmer temperatures in December and January). Proof that the horses are warm? Today’s falling snow melted as it hit them….see the icicles?

Horses have been around for 65 million years. I think to say they are built for this weather would be an understatement.

So at work we were asked to video tape a line, plus the first line, from The 12 Days of Christmas as part of a project for one of the communities we serve. We were asked to do it out of uniform and in a setting that shows us in our own environment. So June and I dressed up Ali and gave it our best shot. 4+ minutes of video ended up in a lot of hilarious moments. So I created this little blooper reel.
