Today is National Bouvier des Flandres Day! The Bouvier is fond of human companionship and does well in most environments. He is an intelligent dog with a steady disposition. Though spirited and bold, he is usually well-behaved. The breed is often used as a watch or guard dog and has been employed as a guide dog for blind people.

It’s all about presentation.

We are 5 weeks old today and these are the things we learned this week!

1. How to drink from a big water fountain
2. That meaty bones feel oh so good on our new teeth when we chew on them ( and they taste good too!)
3. That our brothers ( or sister as the case may be!) are fun to chew on as well and wrestle and stalk!
4. That we are brave and oh so FIERCE!!! At least with each other.
5. That going potty on our potty area makes our Holman mom happy cuz she has less messy puppies! ( Don’t worry we are still messy we have to give her something to do!)
6. Pop bottles have a satisfying crinkle when we crunches them
7. We love the rubber chicken our ho**ah dad gave us and we love to make him squawk and drive our HM( hooman mom) crazy cuz she doesn’t like the noise.
8. We learned what outside looked like but haven’t decided if we like it yet. It was kinda windy.
9. We know how to get out of our weaning pen ALLLLL by ourselves. The only help we need is for the gate to get out of the way! Thanks HM!

It has been a VERY busy week for us and now we are tired and need a nap! Stay tuned for next time!

Bath time today before they ate their supper. Apparently food was not a priority but playing was. They are really starting to show their personalities! Almost 5 weeks old already!

4 weeks today and they are changing by leaps and bounds! Look mom we don’t HAVE TO step in our food if we don’t want to! Lol

Some progress towards real food all the time was made. Over the next few days they will be offered a Morton liquid meal 1-2 time a day in addition to their bottle feeds and once they have the hang of it they will transition from mixed bottle/ food feeds to just food feeds!

We are up to 3 at once and aunty is very concerned we take good care of them!

So just a little update. Progress is being made with these sweet little babies. Everyone is gaining and eating voraciously. And I can not say enough about this bubble feeder. I just got it today and while it was a little frustrating for some to figure out what to do, we have mastered the two puppies at a time lol. Maybe someday it will be four at a time. Tails and dews were done yesterday and everyone did very well. We will work with Xayah’s sister Karma this weekend to see if she will help with the physical nurturing and connection at least even if she can’t feed them. Wish us luck!

So we are happy to confirm our next litter. They are expected on or around April 2nd. Maybe some April Fool’s shenanigans are coming our way! Granbre’s Avenging Angel “Xayah” x Lanvern’s Xcalibur “Blade”

Puppies first time outside to play!

Babies got their first real bath today! My daughter was kind enough to do the job for me :) They are now all fluffy and clean smelling. They also got their first sanitary trim to help keep the messes of their coats. Over all they did really well with the quick clipper Ong of their bums and then a scissoring to tidy it up a bit. We will continue to work on that with them in the coming weeks. They apparently all got a massage during the drying process and truly loved their experience. I may have to hire my daughter as my bather for every litter lol!

We have some feisty puppies this morning!

So everyone is growing and healthy. Eyes are open and wobbly steps are being made! The start of the wonderful puppy kisses will be soon! 2 weeks old tomorrow.

Bouviers are Life!

Our life isn’t complete without our furry companions! Sledding, carting, herding, camping and just hanging out. These dogs bring something to the table in every activity!

They are loyal, fierce and protective. They will cuddle when you are feeling blue and run, wrestle and play with you when you need to blow off steam. Many enjoy the water and will jump right in with you.

Don’t be misled into thinking they are like a Golden Retriever. They so are NOT!

They are stubborn, smart, mischievous and eager to please, but are just as likely to ignore you if they don’t want to do what you are asking of them!
