Napa cabbage is in! We have beautiful green and purpley pink Napa for you this week! Enjoy them fresh shredded up in a salad with some peanuts, sliced cucumbers, sesame seeds, and sliced carrots with a sesame, soy dressing. Toss them in a frying pan with eggs and sriracha, throw it in a bowl of ramen or other soup, blanch it with oyster sauce, make kimchi! The Chinese cabbage is so versatile, and so tasty. Let us know what you make! ✨

Things have not slowed down yet! Seeds and plants are still getting in the ground these days. Do not fret - we’re upon deep into November, bringing you fresh veg! Folks may think summer is peak local food time but we’d argue it’s fall; when summer harvests bleed into September and October, and crops like squash, potatoes, onions, radish, salad turnips, and garlic start rolling in. Keep an eye out for how your seasonal eating shifts in the coming weeks based on what we grow locally!

Every week Erik works away to direct seed a number of crops including some roots, some herbs, and some cut greens!

And that’s a wrap for the flower CSA! Huge congrats and gratitude to Willow for leading and executing this successful project! Willow put in so much of herself into this initiative, learning and experimenting along the way. With a deep dedication, intention, and curiosity, she brought you beauty to bring back to your homes. Ever heard of a caterpillar tunnel!? It’s a greenhouse that’s easy to move and looks sort of like a caterpillar!🐛! Here’s what same out of it today: We’ve harvested Asian eggplants in ABUNDANCE, and a good amount of Italian eggplants too! We’re slinging veg 10-1 every Saturday and 3-6 on Thursday on the farm. Grow your own! Did you know we also have a collaborative gardening project here at BeetBox called Community Farm?! Members work a 3 hour shift every week in a garden that has a very similar garden to our CSA and that’s why they leave with a big basket of diverse veggies each week. This year’s group is reaping a bountiful & colourful harvest!

What do you think? ✨ This week we brought in organic blueberries and they are amazing.
We don’t grow berries… but we do partner with other awesome organic, local producers to stock the farm store with diversity! Let us know what you think and maybe we’ll bring them back next week. They flew off the shelves on Thursday. These are first come first serve!

The cherry tomatoes are coming in! We grow (y)our cherry tomatoes in three places; in the greenhouse, high tunnel, and caterpillar field tunnel. For the first few weeks of tomato harvest, the quantities trickle in slowly. Week to week, more are hitting the farm store shelves; but they go quickly, as they are a huge crowd favourite! There’s nothing like a vine ripened, freshly harvested, tomato that has only traveled the wall from the field to our farm store🍅

We’ve got summer fruiting crops for you! BBQ season is here. Supplies of cherry tomatoes are limited but will increase in numbers every week as we get deeper into summer! Enjoy fresh, organic hot jalapeño peppers, Italian and Asian eggplants, cucumbers, and zucchini from our farm store open 10-1 every Saturday and 3-6 every Thursday! We’ve got your greens, eggs, preserves, and other local, organic goodies in supply too!

Ice cream time! ✨This Thursday!✨ Our Farm Store has a special guest: an ice cream truck! 🍨 Enjoy locally-made small-batch ice cream, specialty ice cream sandwiches, and fried ice cream sundaes. Also, for those just stopping to pick up some veggies, grab some take home pints, including strawberry rhubarb crisp ice cream! The ice cream is weather dependent, so let’s hope for a sunny one - standby! 🍦🍨🌞

Our volunteer Catherine brought in wild flowers today! Catherine is one of our amazing volunteers who helps out in the on Saturdays . Kerry-Ann & Catherine are often volunteering for our Saturday shift 10-1, helping keep our farm store shelves stacked or helping you pick up your CSA box 🧺 .
🧑‍🌾 Farmer Erik is at the cash and overseeing the shift. We rotate between farmers so every time we are open you can meet one of us!
