Ontario SPCA Sweat For Pets The Ontario SPCA Friends for Life! Walk™ is a provincial program to raise funds and awareness for

Around the province, thousands of walk participants will enjoy a stroll with their families around the park in their community to help raise support for Ontario SPCA and Humane Societies with animal protection and care services. This May, Juno had her annual visit and after finding out she has gained an unhealthy amount of weight over the past year, Renee and Brenden decided it was time to make a change! Juno, along with her doggy parents, thought that Sweat for Pets was the perfect opportunity for them to get fit as a family!

Renee says, "Sweat for Pets is important to us because this virtual fundraiser was a great incentive to get active and help other pets at the same time.". Since the start of the campaign, between Juno and Renee's weekly agility classes weekly and Juno and Brenden's twice daily walks, Juno has lost 2 lbs!

Renee's personal fundraising page is still accepting donations, so make sure you sprint over and make a contribution while Renee, Brenden, and Juno continue on their journey for better health together! https://bit.ly/2TO5KCB

Cooper is a young, extremely active Husky, which makes Sweat for Pets the perfect fundraiser for him and his human, Fani! Cooper had come from a neglectful background, which is terrible for any dog, but especially for a husky with too much energy. He was adopted, and subsequently returned because his new family could not handle how energetic he is. Enter Fani: as soon as she met him, she knew he was the right dog for their family - and as an experienced Husky/Malamute owner, she knew the kind of attention he would need!

Fani says, "I am participating in Sweat for Pets for many reasons! I want to adopt all dogs who need a home, but unfortunately I cannot, so the next best thing I can do is to help raise money for a wonderful organization that works hard to find all animals a good home.".

Fani is still fundraising on her Sweat for Pets fundraising page and is SO close to meeting her goal, so make like Cooper and run there as fast as you can to leave a donation! Thanks, Fani, for supporting animals in need! https://bit.ly/3gSbH9z

Andrew is participating in Sweat for Pets in honour of his late animal companion, Sassy. Andrew's wife, Ashly, had adopted Sassy as a puppy after Sassy's original owner could no longer take care of her, and she has been a member of their family ever since!

Unfortunately Sassy crossed the rainbow bridge, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t still hold a special place in Andrew and Ashly’s hearts. Andrew says "Losing Sassy was a tremendous loss to my wife and I. She will forever hold a place in our hearts. Joining Sweat for Pets helped fill that void. Understanding how much we care for our pets and how much they need us, made fundraising the right choice.".

Andrew also says that, "Donating to Sweat for Pets gives all pets a chance at a new life. A new home, a new family and to rediscover that smile that brings joy to their lives and ours.". Andrew is still accepting donations on his personal fundraising page, and is so close to reaching his fundraising goal, so make sure you leave a donation! Sassy thanks you! https://bit.ly/3wNAvWN

Kristina has a full house between her three dogs - Chilly, Ruby, and Triple - which makes it even more important that she gets them outside and exercising! Two of her dogs were adopted from her local Ontario SPCA Animal Centre. Chilly, Ruby, and Triple are all part of an agility team, which keeps them mentally and physically fit!

2021 is Kristina's first year taking part in Sweat for Pets, but it certainly won't be her last! She says "It takes a great team of special people to do what the SPCA does, tough decisions, endless hours and sometimes great heartache. I hope that raising money will help alleviate some of the monetary stress that comes with animal care, so the centres and staff can just focus on doing what is right for each animal!"

If you're interested in seeing Chilly, Ruby, and Triple's incredible agility, check out Kristina's fundraising page which has a great video, and is still accepting donations! https://bit.ly/3wG3CeO

Despite their Sweat for Pets team being called We Aren't Runners, Brittany and Laura have pledged to run a cumulative 100 KM in 30 days to fundraise for the Ontario SPCA! Brittany is running alongside her animal companion, Jersey, who was adopted from Northern Ontario in early 2020. She says that adopting Jersey has been the best decision of her life, and he has made every difficult day during the pandemic better.

Brittany found the idea of so much running daunting at the start, but says "Being able to help these animals makes all of the KMs of running worth it!" and we couldn't agree more! Brittany is still accepting donations on her personal fundraising page - and matching all donations made in support of the rescue Jersey came from - so make sure you run over and make a contribution! https://bit.ly/3cS5rgK
