Hey everyone!
We have some big news to share with you. As of June 21, 2024, we will say goodbye to our current location at #100 - 8206 Ontario Street in Vancouver. But don't worry, DOGSmart Training will still be training at various community centers across Vancouver, and our private training and consultations will continue.
Like before, our website provides all the details about our upcoming classes and private training sessions.
If you have dog daycare packages with us we value your commitment, and we’ll honour your daycare packages until Friday, June 21st, 2024.
We want to express our gratitude for the trust and loyalty you have shown us over the years at our Ontario Street location. Your support has been invaluable, and we look forward to continuing our dog training journey together at our community centre locations.

New Class. Adolescence Antics - February 27th at 7:30 PM
Your dog changes from puppy to adulthood via adolescence. This change happens anywhere from 6 months and ends as late as 24 months. During this time, there are dramatic hormonal changes and brain reorganization. Adolescent dogs have lots of energy and low impulse control when they play, explore and interact both with dogs and humans.
This class helps strengthen the human relationship with their teenage canine companion. Duration of behaviours is taught through defining and practicing criteria.
Topics covered include:
- Luring, Capturing and Shaping Behaviour
- Settle vs Down vs Calm
- Relaxing around the environment
- Tiredness vs Overstimulation

This is so much fun. Tia is a 7-month-old Yorkie who has already completed two Puppy Play classes and she has just graduated Beginner Life Skills. For her next adventure in training Tia is signed up for our Train & Play for Teens under 23 lbs. Yay, Tia. 😍
We are thrilled when we get feedback from our clients. This is Bea. She was scared of just about everything and one of the things she was afraid of was playing. It was hearbreaking to see her so fearful that she couldn’t play. Her mom called us and we enrolled her into our Anxious and Fearful Program. And here are the results after a lot of training and patience - Bea playing with her Snuffle like there was never an issue. Way to go Bea!
At some point in your dog life a dog cone or recovery collar may be needed at home or at the vet. It’s always a great idea to help your dog get used to wearing one by doing fun exercises before your dog actually needs to wear one for healing. It’s never too late to start.

Kane and Mary doing their thing. .. This #aussie can go. And is a talker too ...! This event is called Gamblers. The handler must stay outside of the yellow ribbon around certain equipment you see in this video. It's difficult because the handler must maintain a certain amount of distance from the dog and this make the level of difficulty greater. All in all this was s very good event.
Terrific video from our Learning Games class taught by Tracey. This is Dawn and Leo. Leo was a rescue and has come leaps and bounds in confidence. It took Dawn two weeks to teach Leo to pivot and he wouldn't touch the plate at all. As you can see all their hard work truly paid off. The clicking sound you hear is from using a clicker device that helps mark the dogs positive behaviour and then the dog is rewarded with yummy yummy treats. Well Done!!!
