One of the most valuable lessons Tazzy has taught me is that you can train any dog, you simply need to find things that motivate and drive them! Very soon after I adopted Tazzy I realised it’ll be extremely difficult to train him using food (which is the most potent reinforcer for most dogs) as he doesn’t really enjoy food that much. Later we figured out he also has a very sensitive gut which caused quite a negative association with food.. So training using treats is out of the question… However, Taz is extremely motivated whenever you produce his favourite balls or show him new and exciting stuff outdoors! So this is what we use for training - his balls and the environment! Here Taz is having a blast playing in dry leaves which I excitedly pointed out in order to help him feel better about another dog walking past us in the distance 🍁 All dogs can be trained as all dogs are motivated by something - you simply need to find what that something is for your dog 🐾🤍

Lexi mou, I’m so proud of you! Lexi was amazing on her walk today! We’re working on ignoring cats and other dogs and not pulling on the leash. At the same time we’re working on being apart from her sister Luna. Lexi was recently adopted by the best dog parents and quickly became attached to her older sister Luna. They’re inseparable! Which is heartwarming but we need to teach her that being separated for short periods of time is also ok♥️

Teaching your dog to ‘heel’ is a trick in my books. Sure, it’s definitely helpful at times; for instance in crowded areas where you need your dog to take position next to you, for his or for others’ safety… It also helps when we’re trying to teach a dog to walk nicely on a loose leash as it usually teaches the dog to gravitate to your side and check in with you more readily and more regularly… However, please don’t walk your dogs in ‘heel’ for the entirety of your walk. This walk is one of the few opportunities in the day your dog has to sniff and explore the world.. LET THEM… 🤍🐾😉

Tried working with little Mia today.. She wanted nothing to do with it.. she just wanted to rest.. this happens.. sometimes dogs are not in the mood to train.. and that’s fine! Let them be.. We discussed training with Mia’s mum.. we practiced a little bit and called it a day♥️🐾 Training will progress so much faster when Mia is in the mood to train🥰

Little cheeky girl Molly 🖤 This little girl is triggered by people walking or running past her on her walks and at home as well as by sudden movements.. We’re helping her feel more comfortable with movement in general and at the same time we’re asking humans to respect and not invade her personal space 🖤🐾

Follow-up with little Olivia this week consisted of teaching her to remain calm while her humans have dinner instead of trying to get in their plates… This alongside some good old management will help us break the cycle of her begging at the table, winning some food etc etc. She wasn’t happy I said she won’t be getting souvlakia from their plates anymore, but accepted this when I said she can still have them later on during training or in her bowl 😉🖤🐾

Olivia is allowed on the couch because: 1) her humans enjoy her chilling with them on the couch. 2) she’s cute, so she usually gets what she wants. 3) she’s a lady of leisure 4) both her humans & myself think that life’s way too short to deprive yourself of puppy cuddles on the couch! 😉🐾
