Uterine torsion (UT) in the mare is an uncommon but life- threatening event for both the pregnant mare and the fetus. Most cases occur in the last 60 days of gestation but before the onset of labor. The underlying cause of UT is unknown; however, vigorous fetal movement, sudden falls, and a large fetus in a small volume of fetal fluid have been proposed as causative factors .Most mares with UT generally present with mild to moderate colic Re**al palpation is the only way to confirm UT. A variety of nonsurgical and surgical correction

Granulosa cell tumors (GCT) are the most common type of tumor to affect the equine reproductive tract, most specifically the ovaries. These tumors are often benign (do not spread), however they can be performance-limiting due to associated behavioral issues and potentially pain depending on their size. These tumors can also affect the reproductive capability of a mare intended for breeding due to elevations in reproductive hormones. Typically, only one o***y is affected with a granulosa cell tumor, and the other o***y will be found to be smaller in size and inactive due to hormones that are being produced by the affected o***y. Treatment by surgical removal is curative, and following treatment, the unaffected o***y should be able to serve as a fully functional reproductive organ.
