A perfect example of why I can’t just brush out a matted coat. Sadly I see dogs in this state most days. There isn’t a magic trick to keep a coat in good condition other than a slicker brush used down the the skin and then checked through with a metal comb to make sure any knots have been removed.

The weather is predicted to be 23 C on Sunday which is too hot for walking dogs. Please be smart and leave your dogs at home! We don’t want to be noticed because of tragedies 🐾

Hi just wanted to clarify that it was not my shop where a dog escaped recently. I’ve had a couple of people ask about it as it was on local pages and groups. But it was definitely a different shop.

I do everything possible to ensure dogs safety including two 4ft gates as well as a 4ft counter that goes across the entire shop front as well as using large crates on dogs that are more likely to be able to jump over the gates.

What happened at another shop was obviously upsetting and thankfully had a happy end with the dog being returned safe and sound. This is an extremely rare situation and I would like all my clients to be assured that I do everything possible to keep their pets safe and secure 🐾

Wow lots of big changes at The Dog Barber this week. We’re in the process of having a new counter built. The retail part of the shop has seen an overhaul too. Lots of new crystals have been delivered including more Rose Quartz chunks for only £1 and new Escoria Amethyst for only £2 each!

Linda has been busy making some beautiful silver wire wrapped necklaces and they are only £2 each. Also in stock are trade size tumble stone bags 5kg of polished crystals for £60, and selenite blocks from only £7.

Just wanted to highlight an issue that many dog groomers and other sole traders and small businesses face. No shows and late cancellations! I am very lucky that this rarely happens to me. However, I know a nail tech that had over £250 worth of clients not show last week, and they have children to support from their wages.

PLEASE if you book an appointment and for any reason won’t be attending, let the person know.

These slots can be filled as many have a cancellation list to call upon. We don’t need a reason or a banking history, just a text to say you won’t be there will do. It can mean the difference between someone affording their bills or not. Our services are seen as a luxury, we understand that, but this is how we keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. We appreciate when you support our businesses and keep our dreams alive. But we cannot afford to live off missed appointments. Thank you

Hey everyone, it has recently come to my attention that a client was unhappy with my services. A a professional I understand that not everyone is going to sing my praises about everything I do. Unfortunately on this occasion the clients daughter was sent to drop off and collect the dog so I didn’t have any contact with the owner until comments were made in a community group over a month later.

So I will be more than happy to address those issues here.

1. Claimed the dog didn’t smell strong enough of products.

I personally use more natural products in my salon. These will leave less of a scent because they aren’t synthetic, and because a dog’s sense of smell is 40x greater than ours it is kinder to the dog not to have them overwhelmed by fragrance

2. Nails weren’t clipped properly.

So, I will only clip nails that need it. If I can see the quick at the end of the nail beforehand, I will not hurt a dog because someone who isn’t trained thinks I should

3. If you feel your dog being sick was caused by my service can you PLEASE contact me.

This could be from something as simple as your dog being excited or could be something more serious or even communicable to other dogs in my care. I need to know this in order to keep the dogs in my care safe.
If your dog is unwell after grooming I will always recommend a vet visit, I am insured for this very reason. A simple copy of a vet report and my insurance company will sort the rest. This ensures your dog’s safety and other dogs in my care. If your dog is unwell as a responsible owner you would want to know why and attend a vet, or at the very least ask the groomer.

I hope this has addressed any issues you may have had. Sadly I cannot find solutions, when I’m not made aware of a problem in the first place.

I like to think that the dogs of rainbow bridge, will be lining up to greet the wonderful Paul O’Grady today. Waiting to welcome a beautiful man who did so much good for their kind. I like to think he will be rolling around with dogs he lost, dogs he saved and dogs who simply heard of his kindness. Covered in fluff, smothered in kisses and loved, loved loved.

Thank you for making us laugh till we cried and for making a true difference this side.
You will be missed, never forgotten and always loved.

Rest in peace wonderful man.
