🎆 Fireworks 🎆 Fireworks can be really daunting for our little (& big ) four legged friends so it’s really important we all help them out as much as we can to help them feel safe 💕 Here’s a few ideas to help keep everyone calm and safe in this noisy season! 🎇 Creating a safe space 🎇 Try finding a dedicated quiet space where pets can hide away, try setting this up in advance and cover crates with blankets so they can associate their space with comfort. (As demonstrated by our lovely model Burt) 🎇 Calming diffusers 🎇 Calming aids are available that releases pheromones to help create a calming environment. Try plugging these in as soon as you can to help your pets acclimate, however please consult your vet before use to make sure it’s suitable for your pet.
🎇 Mask the sound of fireworks 🎇 Try adding some background noise to hide the sounds of fireworks, radio stations, television or white noise machines work well.

For some pets with severe phobias may benefit from medication that can be prescribed by your vet to help keep them calm, this is last resort option and it may not be suitable for all pets. If you need any advice or support over the spooky season please give us a call on 01728 598 111 🎃 Happy Halloween! 🎃

Fritz is back with some more tipz 🐾🎃

With Halloween soon approaching, there are several things to keep in mind to make sure our furry friends stay safe.

🎃 Chocolate and sweet treats - it’s an obvious one and although they are a great treat for humans, they can be poisonous to our pets. It is important to try and leave any chocolates out of paws reach 🐾

🎃 Wrappers - try to ensure empties are disposed of and not accessible to our pets who might want to eat them!🍬

🎃 Trick or treaters - strangers knocking at the door can be stressful and unsettling for our pets. Try to take extra precautions to keep your pets calm and in a quiet and safe place throughout the evening.

📞 if you have any questions or concerns during the Halloween period then please feel free to give us a call on 01728 598111 📞

🎣 Hooking Hell! 🎣

We are so lucky to have the beach right on our doorstep, but it does come with its own dangers! We’ve recently seen a few cases where our patients have been hooked.. ouch!

Today Ian saw one of our local lovelies who got caught up in these hooks!🪝 Thankfully they were easy enough to remove and our lovely doggo was sent home with her owner shortly after 💙

Here are a few tips to bear in mind whilst exploring our beautiful beaches…

🐟 Keep a look out for any fish tackle and sharp objects that may have been washed up onto our beaches
🐟 If your dog gets caught by a fishing hook, please don’t try and remove it yourself as they are often barbed and can cause more harm if not removed properly
🐟 If possible, try to pick up any loose fishing tackle to prevent the next dog from getting caught up. This will also help birds and other animals too!

Give us a call on 01728 598111 if you have any questions 📞

✨🎆 Bonfire night and fireworks displays can be a scary time for some pets, and as pet parents, we naturally want to do anything we can to keep them cosy and comfy! ⬇

It helps to start preparing your pet as early as possible for fireworks and the earlier you start, the easier you’ll both likely find it.

If you’re thinking of getting a pheromone infuser, it’s important to do this at least a few weeks in advance for them to take effect.

When the big day comes around, here are a few tips to keep everyone safe!

1.) Keep them indoors! Keep your pets in the house before nightfall, and shut any windows, doors, blinds and curtains so they can’t run off if they do become frightened.

We also advise you to make sure blinds and curtains are closed so any flashing lights are out of view.

2.) Make a safe cosy space 🧺 Provide a comfortable space just for them such as a den in an area they feel safe and secure in ✨

3.) Keep them occupied 🦴🪀🧸 It may help to play some music or turn on the TV to mask the loud sound of the fireworks. Another way to keep your pets occupied is by giving them toys, treats, or food to distract them.

We recently received this lovely book from one of our clients who sadly lost her beloved little Plum last week 😢

We thought the book was too special to keep for ourselves, so we have popped it in reception if anyone wants to read little Plumdog’s story ❤️

Thank you Emma for such a wonderful gift 💙

🌸 Minnie 🌸

Little Minnie came in this afternoon to see Jess for her final vaccination before being able to explore the outside!

Minnie’s owner also recently took advantage of using the app to ask a question about a potential ear issue that Minnie was experiencing.

After some sound advice and a check over from Jess, Minnie was sent home with a clean bill of health and some ear drops! 🩷

Flea-busting! Swipe for why it is just as important to treat ALL of your pets for fleas in the winter as it is in the hot summer months! 🦟 🚫

Remember to treat every animal separately, including cats, as cats are prominent carriers of fleas! 🐱🐶🐰

Save this post and give it a share if you found it useful or think others would! 🧡

Have any more questions about flea prevention for your pet? The app is available free to all members of Aldeburgh Vets 24/7, to answer any questions or concerns you have leading up to their next vet visit. 💬

Ending the week with some puppy endorphins 🥰

This week our practice manager, Ellie, brought in her newest addition… Peanut!❤️ He is a Patterdale cross Jack Russell Terrier - a real handful 🐶

Niamh gave him a full health check, his first vaccines, and his flea treatment for the month. He then enjoyed lots of cuddles from his new aunties 🥰

Peanut will be back in a couple of weeks for his second vaccine which means he’ll be covered and protected to start exploring the world.. or Suffolk at least!

❌ Missed appointments & No shows ❌

These are usually few and far between but recently we have had a few wasted appointments where clients haven’t turned up to their pre booked appointments, or they have cancelled right before they are due to come in 😩

We are now in the busier summer months where we have an increase of clients and urgent cases such as adder bites and suspected grass seeds 🐍🌿 So appointments with our vets and nurses have become less flexible.

If you are unable to attend an appointment, please contact the practice as soon as you can so we can potentially give those appointments to other poorly pets!

Thank you for understanding and for supporting us in another busy year 😊

🍦☀️Summer is here! ☀️🍦

With the warmer months finally upon us (hoorah!) Fritz is here to give us some tips to keep our furry friends cool this summer:

☀️ Keep walks in the early morning and late evenings

☀️Always make sure your pet has access to clean and fresh drinking water

☀️Always check the pavement before walking - if it is too hot to keep your hand there then it’s too hot for paws

☀️ Ensure your pets have a cool and shaded area to lay in

☀️If you can, allow your dogs to have a splash in the water or try a cooling mat for them to lay on

☀️ Try enrichment toys and games to keep your pets busy rather than hot walks in the sun

🐾 If you have concerns about any of your pets please give us a call on 01728 598111 for advice and support 🐾
