🎆 F I R E W O R K N I G H T 🎆

We all know firework night is a tough night for a lot of our fur babies, if you feel like they struggled this evening, here’s a few things you can do to reduce the anxiety over the next week.

- Try desensitising your dog to firework noises by playing similar noises through your tv or phone on a low volume whilst making a positive experience with treats, praise and cuddles whilst gradually increasing the volume

- Take them out for extra long walks during the day to get them super tired in hopes they fall into a deep snooze whilst your in with your feet up and the TV on

- Dogs read a lot of our body language so if we make too much of a fuss with them when they are scared, they might think the loud noises are reasons to be scared, so always best to keep calm and act normal around them

- One thing I know that works to reduce stress which is what I use in my salon, relaxing calming music! There has been lots of research that shows classical music helps soothe anxious dogs, however research has also shown during firework night, dance music with loud bass can help disguise the sounds of the bangs, this could be a good alternative if your planning heading out to a display yourself.

- Using an anxiety coat or jumper, these specialised pet clothes help your dog feel secured whilst the gentle pressure stimulates the production of oxytocin leaving your dog feeling calm.
