Both indoor and outdoor rabbits require vaccinations to keep them safe from infectious disease. Young rabbits are particularly vulnerable to serious illnesses, so it’s important to get them vaccinated early.
Rabbits can be vaccinated from five weeks old and will need yearly booster vaccinations throughout their life to maintain immunity.

There is no denying the fact that dogs can help to alleviate stress in the workplace. In fact, a survey conducted by The Kennel Club revealed that 70% of people think dogs reduce stress within a working environment, and even stroking a dog is said to reduce blood pressure.

If you are, you will be required to obtain an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) for them.

An AHC needs to be issued by an Official Veterinarian (OV).

Check with your veterinary practice to see if they have a qualified OV because not every practice will have one.

Yesterday marked the start of Diabetes Awareness Week - did you know your furry friends can get diabetes too?
Diabetes causes levels of glucose (sugar) in the blood to be persistently high. Normally when blood glucose levels increase, the pancreas releases a hormone called insulin which adds in a number of ways to lower the blood glucose and prevent it from getting too high.

From today, all pet cats will legally need to be microchipped in England. This must be done by the time they are 20 weeks of age.

Following on from this mornings post, we would like to introduce our new practice best friend, Elvis!
He was brought into the clinic as an injured stray cat in January. We suspect he was a victim to a car, so he stayed while under treatment. He was not neutered or chipped, and our team scoured the local lost and found pages, but no owner was found or came forward.
During this time everyone fell a little bit in love ❤ As you can see, he has moved into the clinic and calls it home! We named him Elvis, as due to his pelvis/leg injury he walks with a slight swagger.
He spends all his time hanging out upstairs enjoying lots of fuss from the staff. 🥰🐈‍⬛

Encouraging foraging is a great enrichment and helps keep boredom at bay. You can use egg boxes, cardboard boxes, commercial parrot feeders, all to get them to work for their dinner and keep their minds active. Please share pictures/videos of any you do in the comments below.
