Our boss baby Sophia (for another few weeks anyway before the next baby arrives😄🍼) keeping an eye on proceedings at the weekend as we got our 3rd cut of silage 🌱made and stacked away for the winter.🚜

🔥🔥So with good weather predicted for tomorrow is it time for what could be the last BBQ of the year! 🔥🔥

1lb of Dexter steak pieces (make your own kebabs...we'll even throw in the wooden skewers)
1lb of Dexter sausages (these taste phenomenal cooked on the barbie)

So my Dunlarg Dexter herd has been confirmed as officially TB free, until the next time that DAERA decide to make me test all the animals again...probably in 3 months time....what a shambles of a process, causing unnecessary stress to both man and animal...

We at Dunlarg Dexters handed over a cheque to Charis Cancer Care for the monies raised at our recent farm walk which was hosted on behalf of the NI Dexter Cattle Group. We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the Lord Mayor Margaret Tinsley, Carla Lockhart MP, & Councilor Kyle Savage for attending on the day, as well as Rural Support and Food Heartland for giving presentations of what support they provide to the local farming community. The money was raised by holding a raffle and auction of items and a huge thanks is given to those local businesses and suppliers who very kindly donated towards this. Thanks to everyone that attended on the day as we were very pleased to show those interested how we conduct our business at Dunlarg Dexters and learn about the Dexter breed.

We were delighted to be the nominated charity for a Dexter Herd event, hosted by Nigel McIlwrath in Keady at the end of the Summer. Nigel conducted a tour of his farm as well as sharing his experience of farming the Dexter breed of cattle. It was a fabulous event and incredibly well supported by the local farming community. They raised a total of £1020 for Charis Cancer Care. Nigel is pictured, with his family and Fiona Brown from Charis. We extend our huge appreciation to Nigel, his family and supporters for this fabulous donation towards our work.

We are hosting a farm walk on behalf of the NI Dexters Cattle Group on the 19th August. If you are interested in joining us on the day please give me a call on 07715 891 711 to confirm numbers for catering.

🐮 🚶‍♂️The Food Heartland are delighted to attend an upcoming Farm Walk being hosted by Dunlarg Dexters on Saturday 19th August 1-5pm.

We look forward to seeing around the farms newest calving pens, and viewing their award-winning Dexter Cattle.

Food Heartland will deliver a short talk about their ongoing work in supporting all areas of the Agricultural Industry from field to fork.

There will also be a series of talks taking place throughout the day surrounding the history of the farm and uniqueness of the Dexter Breed. There will be Bouncy Castles on site for the children, this farm walk is not to be missed!
