Unfortunately due to staff illness we will be closed for the rest of this week.
I am away until Saturday so timing wise this isn’t ideal but I wanted to make sure everyone is aware.

Forget Tame those tangles... LETS MELT THOSE MATTS!

Whilst we've got you here, lets have a talk about coat health. We are praying that you have clicked this email for banter but just incase you thought you needed this cream lets cover some top tips & products perfect for maintaining your dogs coat.

Before we go any further though... We just want to state, if your dog is matted, PLEASE go and get your dog groomed. Dogs do not care about what they look like. They just want to be comfortable and matting is far from comfy. The best way for us to describe matting - imagine putting a rubber band on your wrist every day. The tighter it gets the more painful it gets when it moves. When you finally take all those rubber bands off, the blood is going to rush back to the skin causing many issues. Its not a comfy situation and its a completely avoidable situation.

Matting can be easily avoided with daily or even weekly brushing depending if the coat will allow longer breaks between brushing. It is important to use a detangling spray that will help protect & condition the coat whilst brushing through. Working sections by sections, gently brush through the fur and follow back through with a comb to ensure you get every tiny knot out.

If you have any questions about coat maintenance please contact your groomer and they will be able to advice you more and potentially demonstrate for you.

Happy Friday!

As promised here is an update on the lovely Jet, who you all are helping to raise money for.

"Well the handsome Jet has already made himself at home in his foster home. Vet said he’s a lucky boy to still be here, but initial signs are he’s definitely on the mend.

Starting to show typical playful, puppy behaviour and good to see he is eating without being hand fed".

Thank you again to everyone who has donated via Facebook, PayPal and Bank Transfer. This means a lot to Jet and everyone at Large Breed Dog Rescue.

29/02/2024 please meet Jet.

Jet joined LBDR last week and is around 5 months old. He is a very friendly boy who hasn't seen much of the world.

Towards the end of last week, Jet became very unwell. He was rushed to the vets for a check up to find out what was making this very happy boy unwell.

Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with Parvo. But thanks to the quick work of Medivet he is making a good recovery and is now recovering in his foster home.

So far, Jets vet bill is around £3,000 however we are grateful that he is still with us, as Parvo can be very deadly in a young pup.

As a small rescue, we rely solely on donations to cover any veterinary costs.
