Great to be out and about today around Castle Combe and Ford. It's been a while since I've found a new route worth posting, and today's is a great one (maybe even the best so far!).

This is a great event that we are volenteering at this year. Now in its 3rd year with a new course.

Say hi if you are there next Saturday.

with ARE YOU MARCHING IN 2022?

The Bath Marches return on Saturday 3rd September and this time with the addition of a new, shorter route.

Once again, we'll be setting off from The Bath Recreation Ground and along the 3 routes (4, 9 or 15 miles), where you'll find snack stops and plenty of support from our team.

This is a family-friendly event and U18s go free (as do dogs!)

This is one of my favourite walks at the moment and takes in the tops of Solsbury and Charmy Down. Wonderful views without the steep hills that other routes up these two hills involve. This route can be done in a couple of hours if you walk fast so can even be done as an evening walk.

Let me know if you complete this walk or any of our others. Maps and instructions on the website as usual.

So great to get out again yesterday and see the spring in full force. Great walk around Marshfield taking in lots of wild garlic, bluebells, and an amazing field of dandelions.

If I am honest also some incredible cake at Sweetapples Teashop in Marshfield.

You've got to love the longer days especially when they are so sunny! There's time for a walk after work now - start at a pub so you can do a walk, watch the sun go down and then reward yourself with a drink. Bliss.

No pub for me tonight but a quick blast to the top of little solsbury hill in batheaston.

Go on - tag someone you've been meaning to catch up with, then plan a short walk from our website to do one evening this week.

After a short break from walking to deal with a second helping of Covid I am starting to get my lungs working again and getting back out there.

Here is a great one for the Easter Weekend through the grounds of Corsham Court. A short, flat walk with large open spaces - just perfect for walking off excess chocolate with family and friends.

More walks to follow as I have about 3 weeks worth to catch up on.

A great walk yesterday from Cold Ashton down the Limestone Link and back via the Cotswold way.

Struck by how silent the valleys were, despite not being far from the noisy A46 for most of the walk. The weather was great and for the first time in weeks, we have pictures of the blue sky.

Looks like a good weather weekend coming up and with 10 walks now fully documented on our site we hope you find something to inspire you to walk this weekend

This is my first walk from Colerne and I can say that it will probably be the first of many. I walked this on a grey day but the views were still fantastic. There are so many valleys on this walk that you constantly stop and look up or across a new view.

Great Pub start and endpoint at The Six Bells inn

I've been a little slow updating the website with the new walks over the last 2 weeks so sat down early this morning at the computer to do the update before the day job kicks in ......

Then noticed what a lovely morning it was and put my boots on instead!

I will get the walks updated this week hopefully but in the meantime here are some photos this morning from the Solsbury Sunset walk on the site.

This is one of my favourite shorter walks, often done on a Saturday morning with a coffee stop (and sometimes cake or lunch) along the way.

The walk can also be started from central Bath by joining the canal at Sydney Gardens and walking to the Larkhall Path off the Canal. It makes a more interesting walk than the popular "walk to the George for Lunch" walk that is popular for people living in Bath on a Sunday.

Coffee/Lunch Stops:-

Robbie’s Plaice
Gather Cafe, Batheaston.
The Crown at Bathford
Cafe on the Barge
Ma Cuisine
Larkhall deli

Looking forward to the sun again after this weekend. Half term this week, an ideal opportunity to get out and walk and talk with your children.

Hopeful for better weather soon..... Picture taken from this week's walk as it approaches

Have a great week. I'll upload a new walk later this week.

The walk has the added benefit of passing two railway stations (Freshford and Avoncliff) so it is an easy walk to do if you are coming from Bath and do not have a car. (or if you want to enjoy more than one pint in the two fantastic pubs on the route The Inn at Freshford and Cross Guns Avoncliff).

We start the walk at The Angelfish Restaurant / Café but as you can see from the route on the website page there are several places you can start.

Maps and more on our website https://walkinginspiration.co.uk/freshfordandavoncliffwalk/

Finding it difficult to find time to get out more and catch up with friends? - Tag someone you want to do this walk within the comments below and walk and talk.

A great circular walk around the village of Box. This walk climbs the hill out of Box along the MacMillan Way, a long-distance footpath from Boston to Abbotsbury before circling around and heading back down the hill right next to the Box Tunnel West Entrance.

For well-deserved refreshments check out Birdhouse Café The Queens Head or The Quarrymans Arms

Some of the most varied views you will get on a walk around the East of Bath. Views down the River Avon, towards Salisbury Plain and then finally into Bath.

Start at The Crown at Bathford and end here for a drink or enjoy the delights of The Kings Arms, Monkton Farleigh, Bath halfway around the walk.

The walk finishes on a descent through the Browns Folly Nature Reserve Nr Bath which can be as quick or slow as you want.
