Blue Green Algae
This can be very toxic for dogs, for some, fatal.
It is a term used to describe a group of bacteria called Cyanobacteria. It is commonly found in non flowing water. Certain conditions in the warm/hot weather can allow it to grow quite fast and form a 'bloom'.
Don't allow dogs to swim in or drink water you suspect may contain any blue green algae. The algae can get trapped on the fur of a dog and, when they groom themselves can ingest it.
Symptoms can appear within minutes or a few hours. These can include:
➡️ Vomiting and diarrhoea
➡️ Drooling
➡️ Confusion
➡️ Difficulty with breathng
➡️ Collapse
➡️ Seizures
If you suspect that your dog has been in contact with blue green algae, seek veterinary advise immediately.

Our friends at The Cinnamon Trust are organising a nationwide event called The Big Walk. On the day, volunteers, their dog ambassadors and supporters of The Cinnamon Trust will embark on group walks in more than 40 locations across the UK.
In Bath on Bank Holiday Monday 6th May, everyone will meet at Bathwick Hill at the National Trust entrance at 2pm, and do the skyline walk. You’re welcome to just turn up, no registration needed!

The Cinnamon Trust is the only specialist national charity providing pet assistance to older people (65+) and the terminally ill, facilitating the full benefits of pet ownership in later years by acknowledging and addressing the drawbacks. Monday. We did our first walk at Bushey Norwood. Then the second group went to Lansdown Woods and third group went to The playing fields and along the Cotswold way. Lovely start to the week with plenty of sunshine!

Sad to see this dear sweetheart go - Bramble. We have walked her since she was 9 months old - a few years ago now. She remains vibrant, joyful and a pleasure to walk. Such a character! Good luck Bramble on your new adventures. ###

Rosie has had a fabulous new haircut from Martha at Fern Farm Country Club. She looks amazing! The mats have been removed from her armpits, her eyes are looking good with no tear stains, clean ears and nails trimmed. River had her paws done and luckily Martha was able to remove a couple of seeds which were starting to burrow in! In memory of a very special dog called Harry who crossed the rainbow bridge last Thursday. I think he was the first member of the Pawtrails pack almost seven years ago now.
