🏆Favourite Patient Friday 🏆 This is Reggie. Reggie was transferred to us from the emergency vet on Monday morning as he had managed to get hold of some Ibuprofen, which, when injested at such a high dose, is extremely toxic. At the emergency vet, they induced vomiting and we kept Reggie in on fluids into Tuesday. We tested some blood to check that his kidneys were functioning okay after exposure to a toxin. Reggie’s blood results came back within normal limits and he is doing well at home. He was a delight to have in hospital 🏥 🥇🥰 #puppiesofinstagram #veterinaryhospital

❓Trivia Tuesday❓Did you know that a Doppler is used to measure a patient’s blood pressure? This method is used primarily to measure systolic pressure; this is the pressure in an artery as your heart beats. An inflatable cuff is attached to occlude an artery and re-entry of blood into the artery causes a frequency change in sound waves - which is what you can hear in the video. In this video we are using the Doppler to monitor a rabbits heart rate. This is particularly useful in small furries as the alternatives on the multi-parameter machine would be too large for use. 🐰🐇
🧐🤭Friday Fun 🧐🤭 How many pups can you see on this pregnancy scan? ❓🤨#puppies #ultrasound #veterinaryhospitals

⛔️Warning, Scenes of Surgery Shown.❓ Trivia Tuesday ❓ Did you know that all cats carry a large number of bacteria in their mouths? A cat's teeth are very small, so they inoculate these bacteria into the skin. After two/three days the wound may develop into an abscess - a swelling filled with pus. Cat bite abscesses are most often found on the face, neck and tail. They are often very painful and if left untreated can leave cat's unwell. Poor Spesh had to come in to have a cat abscess on her neck drained. This was a procedure completed under general anaesthetic; whereby it was lanced and flushed. Spesh was sent home with some anti-inflammatory pain killers and antibiotics, to keep her comfortable and fight any further infection. Spesh is doing really well and hopefully we won't be seeing her again too soon. 🐱🥰 #catsofinstagram #catbite #surgery #vets #veterinarysurgery
❓ Trivia Tuesday ❓Did you know that laser energy promotes healing and reduced inflammation, swelling and pain? Marshall has been having some laser therapy to help with his prolapsed discs, as well as other treatment. Laser therapy is a great way to accelerate the healing process and reduce pain. Give the practice a call if you think your animal could benefit from a course of this treatment. #laser #klaser #veterinarynurse
