We are appealing for urgent information after two dogs were stolen during a burglary in today (Wednesday 7 August).

The beloved pets, a five-year-old chocolate Labrador and nine-year-old black and white Spaniel, were taken between 9am and 4pm from an address in Boreham Road.

Anyone who has any information about this burglary or has any information about where the dogs are should call 999 and quote incident 857 of 7 August.

Detective Sergeant Dan Smith, from Braintree CID, said: “The thefts of family pets are always devastating for the victims, and we want to do everything we can to return these animals to their rightful owners.

“If you see the dogs, please call 999 immediately. We would urge people not to take matters into their own hands but call us with any information or sightings.

“And if you are the person who has these dogs, please hand them in or contact us.

“The owners are devastated and want their pets back.”

We have had a cat handed into us this evening found in the bonnet of a car in the Broomfield Hospital car park.

Unfortunately, the cat is not chipped.

It's National Walking Day today for us Humans! We cannot forget out four legged friends, so why not join in on the traditions with them:

🐾 Go for a walk! - Well that one’s pretty easy. Take thirty minutes to an hour to get the blood pumping and the legs moving!

We had a late visit from Pepé Le Pew for Valentines 🦨💨❤️

Yesterday, we had Exotic Explorers bring their six Skunks in for their annual vaccinations and general health checks with William.

As you can see from the pictures below, all the team love treating and caring from all animals, no matter the species. Here you will see William our Head Vet, Philippa one of our Registered Vet Nurse, Hayley our practice director and Emily our receptionist

However, one of them left behind his scent which has caused the practice to have a very unusual smell which may linger for a few days 🦨💨

During we are talking about dental problems in dogs and cats. Periodontal disease occurs when the tissues that surround teeth become infected and inflamed. Bacterial plaque build-up on the teeth causes inflammation of the gums (gingivitis) if not removed. Over time, infection and inflammation spread deeper into the tooth sockets, destroying the bone around the tooth roots – meaning teeth may need to be extracted (if they haven’t already fallen out!).
The good news is that plaque can be removed with daily dental home care, and gingivitis can be reversed if caught early. Speak to us about the best dental care regime for your pet to help keep their teeth clean and healthy!

When walking your dog in the dark, make sure that both you and your dog are visible to others. For owners, this means avoiding dark clothing and wearing reflective safety gear such as a vest, strap, or wristband. There are several options for keeping your dog visible in the dark, such as a reflective jacket, collar, lead, harness, or even an LED light-up safety necklace. Dogs with darker fur are more difficult to see in the dark. However, even if you have a lighter coloured dog, you should still make sure your dog can be seen in the dark!

Oral hygiene is really important to help prevent future dental issues and there are all sorts of different ways we can provide dental care at home!🏠

One of these is toothbrushing🪥
This will require a bit of patience and skills (as well as your pets Co-operation) but is one of the most effective ways to keep your pets mouth healthy. When it is done regularly and properly it can slow down tartar development, which will reduce the requirement for future dental work.
Brushing should be done daily, where possible, with a pet toothbrush ( correct size and species) and tooth paste.
You must ensure the toothpaste is pet safe and does not contain toxic ingredients such as Xylitol.
